Chapter Four

Two Weeks Before The Wedding

“General Daric Tigerpearl, Kazuki,” belowed the herald. General Kazuki moved to the center of the room and face his Emperor Diamondflame. “Our beloved General Kazuki, I have not rewarded you yet for winning our latest battle against the Areetes. Those evil beings I just want to wipe from the face of the world. But the innocent souls should not suffer for the bad,” stated Emperor Diamondflame.

“Emperor, I am not worthy,” said General Kazuki. “Always the same reply and yet for none of your achievements I have let you sway me from rewarding you. This time I shall reward one of my mighty Generals,” said the Emperor as he turns and nodded to the head servant.

The servant moves towards General Daric Tigerpearl. “We are finally getting a foothold in Estin, through Caregivern Kingdom. I have proposed a marriage alliance with the Royal Mother. Our messages is already in talks with her about this alliance,” stated the Emperor, just as the servant hands the Emperor sealed document to General Daric Tigerpearl, Kazuki.

“Our General Daric Tigerpearl, Kazuki shall be our ambassador and wed one of Caregivern Kingdom Princess’. The Royal Mother has not yet sent word which of her daughters will be your wife. But which ever Princess is sent you will treasure her as if she is one of my daughters. That document explains all the cultural and customs of Estin,” stated the Emperor. All his subjects bowed and General Kazuki said,” thank you, Emperor Diamondflame. Your servant is not worthy.

The Emperor laughed, “ and our beloved General still says he is not worthy. Such humbleness our General. This just reinforces that I choose the right man.” The other subjects nodded their heads in approval. General Kazuki moved back to his place with the other Generals.

After leaving the Imperial Palace, General Kazuki headed to his encampment. Soldiers ran about doing their duties. General Kazuki headed to his tent, his vassal a half orc greated him as he entered. “General Kazuki, welcome back,” said Vassal Gnuut. “Make me a bath, Gnuut,” said General Kazuki as he throw the imperial document on his table with all his other reports. He sighed and looked up at the top of the tent, his hands resting on his hips. Gnuut walked back in with the tub and noticed his Masters stance and said, “Another set of military cut backs my lord?”

He turns to look at his Vassal Gnuut as he said, “I wish for that, I have experienced that before but this is hell.” “You were finally rewarded,” questioned Gnuut. “It’s five years worth of rewards all rolled into one imperial document,” said Kazuki as he hung his head rolling his shoulders. As he did so his wings slipped out the back. “Now look my wings are tensed,” groan Kazuki.

“O, Master,” said Gnuut. He dropped the military bathtub and got behind General Kazuki and started rubbing his master shoulders. General Kazuki was so irritated he pulled away. Gnuut shrunk away in fear. “Ugh, no Gnuut it not you,”stated General Kazuki, “I’m just frustrated with this grand gift the Emperor bestowed on me. Just fix my bath maybe I’ll be in a better mood after a long soak and a relaxing flight.” Gnuut nodded and rushed to getting the bath ready.

General Kazuki rolled his shoulders and left the the tent. Testing his wings, he shot up in the air and took several flights around the encampment. Fifteenth minutes later he landed in front of his tent. Flexing his shoulders again, he fluttered his wings again and saw they were a bit loser. He grabbed the bottom of his tunic and pulled up, his right wing snagged but a little fluttering and the shirt came loose.

Entering his tent he said, “Gnuut, is my bath ready?” He threw his shirt next to the tub. “Yes, Master Kazuki,” stated Gnuut, as he gathered up the shirt from the floor of the tent. General Kazuki moved towards the tub felt the warmth and then proceeded to undress the rest of the way before slipping into the tub.

Gnuut finished gathering the rest of Master Kazuki clothes and slipped out the tent. Ten minutes later he returned and got ready to scrub his masters body. Gnuut lathered up a sponge and lightly washed General Kazuki wings, then his back. Washing his chest and arms was the last step before handing over the sponge to General Kazuki.

Gnuut walked out the tent and went tend to Master Kazuki clothes. After Gnuut left the tent, General Kazuki washed his chest, and then stood up and washed his lower body, as he got to his shaft, he froze as a thought entered his mind. “His wife would be touching him and bathing him every night he was home… he was going to have a wife. Where she live with him…in this military tent? That where he normally sleeps and works part of the day…with his parents….” the thought of his parents made him tense again. Frustrated again he finished up his bath and through down the sponge in the water.

Leaving the bath he felt the cold hit him and grabbed the towel hanging on the screen. Walking behind the screen he dried himself roughly and grabbed his new clothes aggressively. He pulled up his britches and roughly pulled on his shirt. His wings fought to find their slits in the shirt.Frustrated again he growled out, “Gnuut!” No reply, no sound coming from the front of the tent entrance. “Gnuut,” he yelled getting angry. Gnuut entered with a rush, “Master Kazuki, you called?”

“My dang wings! Please could you,” he started angrily but soon realized he was yelling at someone innocent. “Yes, Master.” said Gnuut apologetic, “sorry was washing your clothes to hang up by the fire.” “It’s alright, I was frustrated from my thoughts. I need to sleep before I look at that imperial decree. If I do it now I might tear it up in my frustration,” said General Kazuki.

Gnuut nodded after getting the tense wings out of the long shirt. He stepped back and went back out to finish the clothes. General Kazuki tensed even more when he noticed the table with all his reports and the imperial document. Growling, he grabbed almost a full bottle of barcar a blend of vodka and brandy. In stead of a shot like he usually has when he has trouble sleeping, he has a glass. Almost swallowing it in one gulp.

The last gulp he coughs and rubs his forehead. He was about to to fix another glass when Gnuut walked in, “Sir, is it that bad, Master,” stated Gnuut. General Kazuki looks at his glass and nods, “I’m about to have another.” Gnuut shyly says, “Master, why don’t you you climb in bed and let the alcohol kick in.” General Kazuki looked up from the glass, slowly, “Yeah let’s try that, Gnuut.” He puts the glass down on top the bottle. And slowly walked over to his cot. Gnuut follows and help coax his masters wings flat on General Kazuki back. After Kazuki wings are settled, he gets into the cot and closes his eyes. Gnuut tucked Kazuki in and grab the glass and went clean it. After he returns and he puts the glass away and hangs up the wet clothes by the fire before retiring for the night himself.

The next morning General Kazuki after his morning training with the troops. Came back to his tent refreshed and ready for his day. As he entered the tent, he went to his table and and sat down in his chair. Rolling his shoulders, he looked down at the reporters. He poked the document, “I guess I should open it,” thought Kazuki.

Breaking the seal, he unrolled the document. Sighing loudly, he read the document.

General Daric Tigerpearl, Kazuki

This is your reward for all your years of service. I know they are trouble makers who would wish you ill, but I, your Emperor believes in you General Kazuki. This is why I am rewarding you not once but several times.

Your first reward is promoting you to Ambassador General. You will be our Ambassador in Estin of the Caregivern Kingdom. Then your next reward will be a marriage to one of the Princess’ of Caregivern Kingdom. Learn the customs and culture of Estin. They are very different from our own. Treat your future wife like the princess and beloved she is. You shall be also granted the title Royal Consort.

Your next reward is a home both here in Aielyn, Kingdom Althyr and in Estin. The home in Estin will be on the border in a small village/ outpost of Everside. The home shall be on a thousand acres of land. Your home will be a Royal Villa Manor and shall consist of 145 rooms. You shall have stables and garage for the Carriages.

Another reward I give you is your own army, half will be Althyrine and the other half will be Estinen. The Royal Mother shall provide men for you to choose from. In turn your army will be eight hundred in total. You may choose your own four hundred Althyrine troops.

Next reward shall be your own encampment on your lands. One side shall sit your new home and on the other will be your training ground for your army. Your encampment will also contain stables for the war horses. A barracks will also reside on your property for your troops.

Your home here shall be here in the capital Althyr. It shall be a Royal Manor, because after all your bride is a princess. It shall be decorated in any style here in Althyr you want. Servants shall be staffed at both Manors. They shall be trained like the palace servants.

I have supplied the bridal price. Your last reward shall be three times more pay to the salary you make now. Plus 100 gold coins, 1000 silver coins, and a thousand copper coins. You shall also receive monthly military allowance for all your men and horses. Clothing, food, training equipment, and materials you may need for keeping your army ready. This will be what your military allowance is for as you know.

General Kazuki drops the letter and stares at the imperial document. Emperor Diamondflame really did reward him for all his services to the Empire. He looked up as Gnuut walked in with his breakfast. A plate with a boiled egg, sausage, and a toast piece of bread. That had been his breakfast for the twelve years he been in the military.

Gnuut stopped in his tracks when he noticed the imperial document open in front of his Master. He started shaking in fear. When the plate started to hit the tray General Kazuki looked up. General Kazuki put his hand on his forehead and rub down his face. “Gnuut it’s alright. But it is what I thought. An something I’ll have to get use too, stated General Kazuki.

Gnuut tried to stop shaking and brought forth the breakfast tray. When he set it down, he happen to notice the plans for the Villa Manor, “ o my,” stated Gnuut. “Yeah,” said General Kazuki, “it’s all gonna be a problem and Grand affair.” Gnuut nodded in agreement.
