He paused for a moment then turned his back “Then you loose the money…..” he replied “And…… I look for someone else” he added turning to her direction There was silence then she took a deep breath “I’ll do it.”she said breaking the silence and breathed out as if she had been holding it Of course she didn’t know what she was doing because this one decision can either make her or break her entirely but she kept reminding herself of the money involved Adrian studied her face carefully. Watching closely he knew she wasn’t certain he just had to play along “Are you certain?” “No,” she admitted. Something almost like amusement flickered in his eyes. Of course he knew “But you’ll do it anyway.” “Yes.” He nodded once. “Good.” He replied He opened the contract, flipped to the final page, and signed his name with quick, practiced precision. The movement was effortless, as if he signed documents worth millions every day which he probably did. His signature was bold and confident across the paper. Adrian then capped the pen and slid it across the glass table toward her. Khloe stared at it. For a brief moment, the room felt unusually quiet. The distant hum of the city outside the tall windows seemed muted, as if everything had paused to watch what she would do next. This was the moment. The point where she could still stand up, apologize, and walk away. But she didn’t. “No strings attached?” She wanted to make sure it was clear “ of course….. no strings attached” he replied with confidence Khloe slowly picked up the pen. It felt heavier than an ordinary pen, smooth and cold between her fingers. She glanced once more at the contract, reading the lines she had already memorized. Six months. Temporary marriage. Confidentiality. Part payment now Full Payment upon completion. Her heart beat faster. While her hands shook but she tried her best to hide it in as much as Adrian still noticed but decided to ignore This was madness.she thought to herself But madness was sometimes the only option life left you. She leaned forward and wrote her name beneath Adrian’s. Khloe Roswell. The ink dried almost instantly. And just like that, everything changed. Adrian closed the folder calmly, as if they had just finalized a normal business agreement. “Good,” he said. That was all. No dramatic speech. No congratulations. No hesitation. Just good. He stood and reached for his phone. “My driver will take you and I to the house.” “And he’ll also get some of your clothes from your apartment” Of course you won’t be needing them but still” he added “The house,” Khloe repeated softly, still trying to process what she had done. “Yes.” Their house now, apparently. Adrian turned around and made a call but Khloe wasn’t paying attention In no time Khloe heard a beep message from her phone she checked it and her eyes wide open “I’m hoping you just received the part payment, so there’s no backing out now” Khloe looked at her phone she couldn’t believe her eyes, twenty million sitting in her account something she couldn’t afford even she worked for the rest of her life But she had to comport herself so he wouldn’t mistake her for a local girl Khloe had never been to his house but with his wealth and charisma she already imagined his house to be like a palace and of course she wasn’t wrong. Adrian White’s house didn’t feel like a house. It felt like a palace, and looked like it aswell Khloe sat still in his office still imagining how huge his house could be and how they would live in there together When his driver woke her up from her imaginations with a tap on her shoulder and she flinched “Miss Roswell, the car is waiting outside” she stood up and followed behind. The car drove through tall iron gates that opened automatically as they approached. Khloe leaned slightly toward the window, her eyes widening as the long driveway stretched ahead. Green lawns spread across both sides like something from a luxury magazine. Sculpted hedges lined the path. Tall trees stood in perfect rows, their branches swaying gently in the afternoon breeze. The farther the car drove, the more unreal everything began to feel. Her entire apartment building could probably fit inside the front garden. Finally, the mansion appeared. Khloe’s breath caught. Exactly as she imagined it to be and more
