Goodbye

Kelsey‘s day flew by as she worked nonstop to get herself in a good place before leaving. Jenn was running around making calls, sending emails, moving meetings, it was simply chaos. But at 7 o’clock they had accomplished everything that they felt they had to get done, and as Kelsey gave Jenn a big hug and thanked her for all her help, she felt the excitement of heading across the pond again starting to grow. “Ugh, I’m so jealous!”, Jenn groaned. “I think you’re going to have such a great time! I’m going to miss you!” Kelsey smiled warmly. “I’ll miss you too.” And she meant it. Even though Jenn was her PA, she had also become her friend. “I won’t be too long I’m sure. Plus you can contact me any time and please make sure to forward me anything important and keep me informed of everything going on at the office. Especially the gossip!” “Absolutely!” Jenn laughed. “Your car is here.” They have each other one last hug and Kelsey got in the car and headed home, waving goodbye with a huge smile. When she got home she still had about 30 minutes before Jared arrived, so she went to her closet and dragged her large suitcase out. As she looked at it memories came flooding back from her time spent out in the field. She remembered those times fondly but she was also thankful for where she was in her life right now. It was bittersweet. But this little bit of excitement she felt was good for her as she had been feeling quite bored as of late, something she hated to admit. Shouldn’t she just be content? She opened her suitcase on the floor and started to pack her clothes. Work clothes, casual clothes, plenty of layers because the weather could fluctuate so quickly. Rain boots and a rain jacket because of course it rains all the time. Maybe a swimsuit? It is summer after all. Her brain was hurting and she quickly was knee deep in clothing. She didn’t even realize when it was soon 8 o’clock and the door was opening and Jared was there with the Chinese food. Kelsey hurried to the kitchen and gave him a hug and kiss. It felt off, awkward. She was determined to keep it light. Neither of them said much at first, they just quietly ate fried rice and sesame chicken before Kelsey finally said, “so how was your day?” “Um it was fine, busy, you know, just the regular stuff” “Right, right.” Kelsey was unsure what to say next. Thankfully Jared asked, “so where in England are you going?” “It’s in the Coltswolds, a small village there, Chipping Campden. It’s a really beautiful area.” “Nice,” Jared seemed to not have anything else to say. Kelsey took a deep breath. “Are you mad that I’m leaving for a month? I know it’s last minute but I just had to go. It’s for my job, my future.” Jared looked at her intently. “You keep saying I, not we or our. And you know what?”, Jared stood up. “I am upset. Actually I’m pissed!” Kelsey felt her mouth drop open. Jared had never acted this way. Ever. Was it wrong that he had never looked so sexy as he did in that moment? “I’m pissed because you haven’t even mentioned the important thing you are going to miss by leaving right now. You didn’t even think about me or us or our plans. You only thought of yours.” What was it? What did she forget? It was May 28th, what was happening in June? Then it hit her. “Oh my God Jared. Ella’s wedding. I’m so sorry. You are right. I totally forgot.” “Yeah, my sister’s wedding, that’s been in the books for almost a year. I’ve just been waiting to see if you were even going to remember. Now I’m supposed to go alone? We had a whole weekend planned. You were supposed to be there with me. Looking sexy and sending me flirty texts while I was doing best man stuff.” He turned away from her. “That’s what you said you were gonna do anyway. It’s really hurtful that it didn’t even come into your mind. What does that say about us?” Kelsey stood up. She wasn’t even sure what to say. “You are right. I hate myself that I forgot this.” She took his hand. “I’m so sorry. And I don’t know what this says about us. I do know that I love you very much and I am sad to be leaving you. But also I know I took this job without considering you. And that is scary for me.” “So what do you want to do? Do you want to break up? The idea of you not being in my life is painful. But I don’t want to be with someone who doesn’t see me, see US as a priority.” Kelsey stepped closer to him. They had never really talked about their emotions. They both just kinda went with the flow. Even though it was sad, it also made her feel more connected to him than ever. “Maybe we don’t break up, but maybe we take a break. We use this time to figure out what we want. Maybe some time apart will bring some clarity.” Jared squeezed his eyes closed and took a deep breath. He brushed the tear that had fallen down her cheek and pulled her to his chest. “I don’t want to lose you”, he murmured into her hair. Kelsey pulled her head back and looked him in the eyes. “We still have tonight. The break can start tomorrow.” She searched his eyes. They looked hungry, more intense than she had ever seen them. The emotions he was showing turned her on in a way she hadn’t found before with him. She wanted him and she could tell he wanted her. His lips travelled from her neck to her cheek and finally to her lips. She kissed him back fiercely, her hands traveling into his hair. He put his hands under her bottom and lifted her off the ground. Kelsey wrapped her legs around his back he carried her to her room and they were quickly undressing and entangled in her bed. His lips traveled down her neck and her chest and stomach and back to her lips with urgency. Her cheeks were wet with tears, she wasn’t sure if they were hers or his. All she really knew was that tonight she needed him and he needed her. Whatever happened after would happen. Jared slipped his fingers between her burning thighs and Kelsey gasped. She ran her hands down his muscles back and squeezed hard on his butt. His tongue founds hers and she pulled him tightly against her. She needed him closer, inside her. Kelsey pulled his boxers down and felt his rock hard erect p***s. He pulled back and watched her face and he thrust his throbbing manhood inside her. She moaned and arched her back, gripping on his broad shoulders so tightly that it was surely leaving marks though he didn’t seem to care. As their bodies moved together as of one being, Kelsey felt as if her chest might explode. Just when she fell she couldn’t take anymore, her body released in ecstasy, her legs shaking against his back. Jared moaned loudly and pressed himself against her tightly, his rocking coming to a stop. He laid on top of her for a few moments, feeling the beating of their hearts. Neither of them wanted to separate, deep down they both felt like this was a final moment between them but they didn’t want to admit it to each other, or to themselves. Jared gently rolled off of her and laid next to her on the bed. After laying naked in the bed for a few moments, Kelsey turned to him. “What if I flew back for the wedding? I’m sure I can get away. I can meet you there?” Jared looked at her surprised. “Really? Wouldn’t that be a lot?” “I’m sure I can work it out. Why don’t we talk about it when we get a little closer? I did buy that sexy dress after all.” She gave him a small smile. Jared looked away. Both of them knew that it probably wasn’t going to happen, but they took comfort in pretending. “I should go. You have a lot of packing to do.” She nodded, unable to speak and turned away as he got up to get dressed. She grabbed a robe and walked with him to the kitchen and then to the front door. He looked at her and hugged her one last time. “I’ll call you when I get settled over there. We will text. But, I also want you to know that if you meet someone else, it’s fine, I want you to be happy.” Jared flinched. She instantly regretted saying that. It hurt him. “Goodbye Kelsey”. It sounded very final. He turned and walked down the hall. Kelsey went back to the living room and collapsed on the couch. She really didn’t know how to feel. She was very sad but also the idea of a new beginning, of new possibilities was exciting. But she was also confused about what just happened in the bedroom. They shared more passion in that 20 minutes than they had shared the last year and she didn’t know how to feel about that. Was it just emotion? Or something else? All she knew for sure was that she didn’t have time to dwell on it right now. She didn’t even have time to be sad and cry about this break up. She had to pull herself together and get to work. So she did just that.
