Feeling less marriage!

The night was even darker and the road seemed empty. I was driving to the villa which was going to take half an hour from here. I closed the window of the car and turned the air conditioner on. It was hot outside. I took out wisky bottle from my coat and started drinking. My mind was full of mess. The flashlight of the car was falling on the road, helping me getaway through the dark. I was taking down the cold whisky through my throat. Dad went crazy. He knew how to push the right buttons. Three days ago, he already cause so mess. I was looking for a woman whom I met in the Nightclub, she disappeared like she didn't even exist. I searched for her in that entire club but it seemed she already left the club. I saw their table in the ordinary compartment and went to the reception. “What can I do for you sir?” the receptionist asked me. “I want information about that girl, sitting at that table.” I pointed to the ordinary compartment and kept 10000 dollars on the table. “That table was booked under the name Miss. Lina Wilson.” He said and kept that money in his pocket while looking around. “Lina Wilson.” I had to find who this Lina Wilson was. As soon as I came out of the Nightclub, dad called me. He said it was an emergency. I had no idea what was going on. I unwillingly left that nightclub and came back to the house. I was stunned when I came to know why dad had called me. "Dad, you know what, I won't marry that girl. I had an engagement with Lisa six months ago and now you are asking me to get married to some random girl? How is it possible? What do you exactly want?” I asked dad. I knew that dad loves Lisa a lot, more than his own daughter. I was restless since I heard his decision. On right in the evening, my family was asking me to get married within three days. How could I do that? "You know about our family's curse. You can't marry Lisa first. That's complete prohibited." Dad replied in a serious tone. His wrinkled face got even more wrinkled. “I won't let you marry her before you becomes free from that curse.” Dad was saying the same thing over and over again. Even I heard they always talked about some curse since we were small. "I don't believe all this. It is not necessary that this should happen to me also. Why would Davis man should have two wives?” I have given my answer. My mom was second wife to my dad. She was tensed when she heard what I said. Her face was troubled. “Do we look a fool to you? We are following rituals because we don't want any risk.” Dad was not ready to listen. Even though I was CEO of Davis group, he was the chairman. I have nothing to do except from learning from him. But for this s**t, I won't be ready for that. "You told me to marry Lisa, I said yes. You said that I should engage with her, I did that too. Now you want me to marry a girl you chose. I don't see any logic in this." I refused to get married. "Do you know what punishment can be for this mistake? If you marry Lisa first, she will die after 13 months. You know she won't conceive fast. How can I let that I happen?" Dad tried to explained me. I pressed my lips and wrapped my hands around my waist. “Really? Tell me some more?” I added. “I have never heard this thing even in any movie.” Even though I was not listening to to him, whatever he was saying was felt like some interesting story to me. "Lisa is the daughter of my friend Augustus. And I never want anything to be wrong with her. It's not just about your marriage, it's not only about our business but also friendship.” Dad was stubborn. His point was stuck on the topic of the curses. I was irritated because of him. "Dad, how can you still believe this. Why do I accept this point? Is this all true? Don't you have any other way to free us from this curse rather than asking me to marry someone just for 13 months?” I said to him. He shook his head and denied. He stood up from sofa and went to the wardrobe. Opening the drawer, he took out one big album from it. I was watching his action with squinted eyes. “You have to believe it, just like we are doing it for more than 100 years. Your great great grandfather cheated on his first wife and had a secret affair with another woman. Once his first wife went to his in-law's house for a few days. Your great-great-grandfather took this opportunity and asked his mistress to come to live for a few days. They were living in this house, in the same room, you are living in now. Your great-great-grandmother came back from her house and saw them together in the bedroom having s*x. She went in the kitchen and tried to commit suicide as soon as she saw them in such state. And she cursed that the first wife of every generation of the Davis family would die as she did.” Dad showed me picture of first wife of every generation. His face was serious as hell. I can hear the deep ness in his voice. "You're still believing in all this? Dad, you have studied Master of Science from Howard University. How can you buy all this?” I jerked that album back. I was didn’t want to put this all s**t in my mind. This was superstition for me. “Your great grandfather and grandfather's first wife were dead, you know. I am the son of your grandfather's second wife." Dad said while keeping his finger on a photo. I pressed my lips and gave a thought to it. “Dad, they died of cancer and jaundice. Not because of your so called curse. This is all nonsense. Please don't impose all these things on me. I won't believe it even if you put a gun on my head." Saying this, I started leaving. I knew that if I stayed longer then dad would force me to get married. As I took a step, he shouted loudly. “Oscar… wait….” His hand was on his chest. He had suffered a heart attack. “This.. Is not... A joke...” he screamed and he was about to fall to the ground. His face turned painful. He already had one heart attack few years ago. I saw the same expression on his face. I was scared when I saw his face. “Dad...” I quickly ran ahead and held him before he would fall to the ground. He was seemed heavy as if he lost control on his body. "Dad, are you okay?" I asked him. He shook his head with no. We immediately took him to the hospital. Luckily he survived as we took him to the hospital on time. “Doctor, is dad okay? How is his health condition?” I asked doctor when he came out of the ICU room. “He is out of danger now. But better you keep him away from all kinds of stress. He has hypertension.” Doctor said this. I nodded my head and came into the ICU room where dad was sleeping. “Dad, How are you feeling now? The doctor said you should not take any stress.” I said and stood beside him. But instead of telling me about his health, he held my both hands. “Oscar, Promise me that you will marry that girl. Only for thirteen months. I will not insist on anything after this. I promise you too, after that you will do whatever you want. This is just my last wish. I won’t really ask you to do anything after that." Dad pressed my hands with his hands. He was asking me to promise him. I was His face was still full of pain. He was in such condition that I could not deny him. "Ok. I will marry that girl but there is one condition.” I also put my condition in front. "Say yes." Dad too was ready to do whatever I will tell. “I will do this marriage as an anonymous. No one should know that this marriage.” I told dad. In the first place, no one believes in this cursive thing. I also don't want this to leak out before I become chairman. It will create my wrong reputation in front of other board of directors. "But you have to spend one night with that girl. How will you do all this?" Dad asked again with a troubled face. I pressed my lips. "I'll see it. I will find another way." I had left as soon as I said this. I had sent my signed certificate to the church. I didn't even see that girl's name. Whoever she may be, I would act like that girl didn't even exist. My competitors can use this against me. For me this marriage was just a sign and I have nothing to do with you whether that girl lives or dies after this. If I really not coerced, I will never be ready for this marriage. I was driving the car towards the villa and thinking about it again and again. My only last job and after that I never have to come here or think about this night again. I raised the seat next to me. A black coloured face cover was kept under it. I picked that face cover I bought in the morning. I knew what I wanted to do now. That woman! I didn’t have any sympathy with her, what bought her to take such step. Or it could be possible that she knew about curse but didn’t believe in it. I came out of the car and opened the gate of villa. The lights of it was already turned on. I walked inside with slower steps.
