I can’t breathe. There’s no air in the room. I can’t breathe. My lungs are not working. My eyes scan over the note again and again, refusing to believe my eyes.
“Will—are you okay?” Kanas says. I don’t look away from the note, my feet planted into the ground. My mouth won’t open. The air is escaping the room. How is everyone else still breathing?
“Willow?” Kenji’s concerned voice calls out. Again, I remain still and silent as a statue. I hear shuffling of feet before the note is gently removed from my grasp.
Kana gasps, her hand flying to cover her mouth. She looks between me and the note repeatedly, doubting her eyes.
“What? What does is say?” Leo says impatiently.
Kana clears her throat, “Willow, I can’t wait to meet you. A.” she reads out, her voice shaking.
