I’m quick, but not quick enough. He caught me off guard, and I mentally kick myself. This is something Ryker has tried to drill into my head over and over again, to always be on guard, to anticipate an attack at any moment.
Luckily his claw just grazes my left cheek, leaving a small gash. All around us the chaos ensues once more.
We continue to circle one another, neither one making another move.
“You got lucky,” he jeers.
“If that’s what you want to believe,” I raise a brow at him.
“That was a cowardly move, but I expect nothing less from you,” Terra says from behind Aziz. He turns sideways, so his back is facing neither one of us and slowly backs up so that he has a full view of the both of us.
My mother comes and stands beside me, fight stance ready.
