“Holy s**t,” I managed as Val was able to take me down once again, knocking the wind from my lungs. I laid on the mats, spread out like a starfish, staring up at the bright lights. Every single part of my body ached.
“It’s okay, you’ll get it,” Kana called out from the sidelines.
“I don’t feel like I’m improving,” I grumbled, my back still on the mats.
“You’re really not,” Val looked down at me, chewing on her lip.
“Give her some credit Valencia, she’s new to all of this. She didn’t grow up training like us,” Kana scowled at Val’s brutal honesty.
“I know, I just thought she would have some natural talent,” she shrugged.
