"Wake up wake up Verana" I heard my friend Katia say "my mom says breakfast is ready. Wake up or we'll be late to school".
She left the room skipping down the hallway. I got up and looked at the time 6:00 I sat there for a minute thinking of the dream I just had. I was 3 again and I was with my dad and sister we were camping, my dad says “Get in the tent”. Everything goes blank I wake up. I'm in the hospital and I have an I V in my hand. I can't feel my legs they're broken. I look around and...then I wake up and I'm not in a hospital I'm in my room at my friends house. I stand up and walk over to where my clothes are. I get dressed and walk downstairs into the kitchen my friend Katia's mom is setting two bowls of oatmeal on the table.
"Good morning." she says as I sit down.
"Hello." I say. Katia comes downstairs with her backpack on her shoulder.
"Are you coming?" she asked.
"Yes." I said "I'll be right there just wait for me."
"Ugh fine but hurry up okay."
"Okay."
We arrive at school one minute late thanks to Katia's great shortcut through the forest.
"I will never trust your shortcuts again." I said out of breath and panting.
"It wasn't my fault that there was a bear in path." Katia huffed.
"Well next time don't go run back in the house for your phone charger and your keys." I said.
“Well next time you get ready faster and don't stay up so late at night so you don't have to make up for missed hours of sleep and then have to rush." Katia said.
"You know what I don't need this you are so annoying and selfish..."
“Selfish? Really selfish? Well you know what Verana you can go back home to your mom and dad. Oh that's right they're more than likely dead so who took you in when you were in the hospital with broken legs? That's right me."
It was quiet for a minute the silence was t*****e.
"Katia I'm sorry I just...I just...
"Just what?"
"I don't know I'm just mad." I said with tears in my eyes.
"Verana...I... I'm sorry."
"I'm fine just leave me alone."
Katia walks into school as soon as she's gone I cry like a baby until I can't cry anymore. I look in my backpack and pull out a picture of me, my mom, my dad, and my sister. I stare at it for awhile then I cry again.
