Chapter 12

It wasn't like any other day. From the warm milk that caressed her naked body to the red rose petals that danced with the waves. The soft silk robe that hugged her body to the slight rake of the comb through her brown hair. The moisture of the cream melting into her skin to the different textures of brushes sweeping across her face. The soft laughter of the servant girls contrasted with the deafening silence in her head. From the pins in her hair to the cold diamonds around her throat, even down to the oddly comfortable heels that swallowed her feet. The zipping of the dress and the pinning of the veil. Black roses were placed in her cold palms as she was led to the cathedral with a long train following behind. All she heard were the wedding bells. Wedding bells that signified unity. Wedding bells that signified beginnings. Wedding bells that signified happy endings. But her bells rang only with a warning. A familiar warning. She was dressed in all black. Marching into what seemed to be her beginning. Hell, she was marching into her death. A death trap. This was her funeral. She was fully aware of it. He passed the message, and she got it. She really did. Home sweet hell. But she was lost in her hopelessness. Desperation tearing her apart at the seams. She could hear the distant cheers of whoever was present at the wedding, but her goal for now was simply to reach the altar. There was no pleasure in this, nor did it reflect on her face. She didn't even care how she looked. Whether she was smiling or not wasn't her concern. He was getting what he wanted, so let him do the smiling. The melody from the piano mingled harmoniously with the wedding bells, and her heels made light clicking sounds with every step she took. Here comes the bride, here comes the bride. She wasn't part of the ceremony. Her body was simply there. Deep down, she knew it was defeat. Nothing more. The kind of defeat that rips away every bit of dignity you have left and strips you of any strength you intended to fight back with. And now you look like you have nothing left to lose. The next thing she heard were the priest's words. "Yes, I do," Xavier said shortly after. The priest continued talking, and the silence settled over her soul once again. "Jade." Xavier reached out to shake her. "Jade!" And just like acid, she quickly moved away from his touch. Jade looked around like a lost puppy. It took her a few seconds to realize what was happening. For the first time since last night, her soul returned to her body. She didn't know anyone in the cathedral apart from Carrie, Raquel, and her two bodyguards. Jade turned to look at the priest and then back at Xavier. She stared for a moment. "Do you, Jade Hudson, take Xavier Stone as your lawfully wedded husband?" the priest asked again. "Y-yes, I do," she said quietly, swallowing the pain and the punch in her gut. "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride." Xavier lifted the veil from her face and didn't hesitate to pull her against him. He stared down at her for a moment before slowly bending to claim her cold lips as the hall cheered for the newlyweds. What were all these criminals so excited about? Xavier opened the car door for her, and she climbed in. She really didn't care what he did next. This was the point where she did everything he said without complaining. She didn't have a choice anymore, did she? The little hope she had died the moment she said yes. "Aren't you going to ask where we're going for our honeymoon?" he asked once they entered the jet. "Isn't it written on my face that I don't give a f**k?" She closed her eyes and tilted her head back. She had to fight the tears threatening to make her look weaker than she already felt. Jade couldn't tell how long she slept, but she woke up when Xavier picked her up into his arms. "W-what are y-you doing?" she asked sleepily, but he didn't reply. "I can walk perfectly fine!" She struggled until she jumped out of his arms. That was when her surroundings caught her attention. "Oh my God!" She walked past him in excitement. They were on an island. "I've always wanted to come here!" She didn't know when she tossed her bouquet onto the sand and kicked off her heels. "Daddy always told me stories whenever he came here for business, and I was actually saving up to come here!" For the first time, she genuinely smiled. Xavier simply watched. "I've been to other islands in Hawaii before, but you need a very expensive pass to access this particular island." She was now talking mostly to herself as she moved closer to the water. Some servants came to take their luggage. "I'll give you a tour tomorrow," Xavier said as he walked over to her. "Why not today? I want to see everything!" She happily turned to him, but he grabbed her waist. "Not today, because we have a lot of things to do, and I'm not easily satisfied. It may take all night, and maybe tomorrow too, just to teach you a few things." He smirked, and she tried to move away, but his grip tightened. Jade couldn't hide her blush. She cursed herself for feeling so turned on and wondering how good he was in bed. All that time she had wished he'd just sleep with her had never really gone away. Xavier caressed her cheek. "Feel free. You're mine now." He picked her up into his arms. "And if you don't understand that, I'll show you exactly how." Xavier personally unzipped her dress and took his time removing all the pins from her hair. "Come here." He led her into the bathroom. He lathered her with soap and washed her gently. What was happening? Jade couldn't process any of it. All she wanted was to feel him. Why was he taking his time? She felt so overwhelmed she thought she might explode. "Xavier..." "Shhh." He massaged oil into her skin and gave her a gentle massage. By the time he finished, her senses had completely abandoned her. She wanted him, and he was giving her a massage? He finally took off his clothes, and she didn't hesitate to admire him. A smile appeared on her face when she saw him. He placed her on the bed and began trailing kisses over her body. From her toes to her thighs. From her navel to her breasts. From her neck to her earlobes. And finally, her lips. Jade wrapped her arms around him and happily returned the kiss. His hand gave her breast a gentle squeeze. A moan escaped her lips. He kissed his way down her body once more. Then slowly moved lower, making her inhale sharply. His touch sent shivers through her as his hands tightened around her. She loved the way he positioned himself between her thighs, completely focused on her. Xavier adjusted her legs and slowly spread them apart, desire visible in his eyes. He glanced at her briefly before drawing closer. Her head fell back into the sheets as she gripped a handful of them with a deep moan. "X-Xavierrr!" She moaned again. Every movement after that felt intense, desperate, passionate, and filled with unwavering desire.
