A frown appeared on Jade's face.
"Help me up," Xavier said.
She moved to his side and helped him sit up before he leaned against the wall of the cave.
"Why do we need to leave?" she finally asked.
"It's not safe," he replied, breathing heavily.
"You're not strong enough to move." She adjusted the blanket around his shoulders.
"We've been here for days. They're probably still searching for us and could be close enough to find us. We can't stay here."
"We're safe here. Nobody will find us. We're not moving until you get better."
He simply stared at her.
"You see that?" She pointed at the plank lying nearby. "I used that thing to drag you around. I'm not doing it again. My toes are sore, I haven't eaten a proper meal in days, and my entire body hurts."
