Chapter 6

She had just met him hours ago, and he was already talking about marriage? Jade stared at him in confusion. Either he was mad, or she was losing her mind. She thought he'd have his fun and end this madness, but the more he talked, the more she realized the mess she had found herself in. This wasn't a joke. The look on his face said it all, but part of her wished it was all a dream. Never in her life had she thought about marriage. She didn't even know what marriage was or how to be in one. "We will get married in a week," he stated. "You must be joking," she said angrily. "Sit down," he commanded. She slowly sat. "I won't marry you." "Now this is where you're getting it wrong. I'm not asking you, I'm telling you. And you'd better not make a fuss because you know exactly what I'm capable of." He brought out his phone and showed her a video of her parents being followed by snipers. She tried to take the phone, but he moved it out of her reach. "Stop!" "You are going to do as I say, not because your parents can die any minute you mess up, but because you want to—with a smile." He smiled. "You're a bastard!" she cried. "True. Anyway, what kind of fiancé would I be if I didn't get you an engagement ring?" He forced the ring onto her middle finger. "Never take that off," he ordered. "Now what?" She wiped her tears. "Why would you yell at a poor servant girl? I believe she is well-behaved." He drank from his glass. Look at him, sipping his wine and acting like all was well. Like he wasn't f*****g threatening her! "She reported me?" "No. She is your personal servant, and I won't change her." "You should have let me know. She just walked in unexpectedly, and I wasn't in the best mood," she replied. "Here, drink up. You'll feel better." Xavier poured her some wine, but she didn't drink it. "I'm sleepy." "Shame. I thought we'd chat all night." He set down his glass. "Too bad." She threw him a fake smile. "Goodnight." He stood and walked away. Jade walked to her room with the two men following her. Reality had already hit her. This was not some joke. He was a dangerous man. If she didn't do whatever he said, he would kill her parents. Deep down, Jade knew he could. And this was the perfect time to run. She couldn't marry a monster. She wouldn't be happy in this relationship. What would her friends think of her? But how would she escape? The house was heavily secured. Men and women dressed in black suits were everywhere. Jade fell asleep thinking of an escape plan, and when she woke up in the morning, an idea popped into her head. She was already dressed when she heard another knock on her door. Maria walked in to her dismay. "Would you like to have your breakfast now?" Maria asked. Jade rolled her eyes. "I'll have mine when Xavier has his." She dismissively waved her hand. "Um... Ma'am, Boss isn't around. He said to make sure you have breakfast," Maria replied. "Out!" Jade pointed at the door. "But what about—" "Get out! I don't want anything!" she shouted at the servant girl, who immediately ran out. Where did he go this early? She wanted to put her plan into motion. Jade went downstairs with her two dedicated bodyguards hot on her heels. She picked up an apple in the kitchen, but one of them grabbed a knife to cut it for her. "Hey, hey, hey! We are not doing this too. I can cut my own fruit!" She warned them off. Jade walked around the house over and over again until she mentally mapped out the entire place. "This is his room?" She stopped at a door on the same floor as her room. Her bodyguards nodded. "Missed me?" She jumped and turned around. The hottest man alive was standing right in front of her. She wondered why he hadn't slept with her yet. Wasn't that the point of all this? "In your dreams." She folded her arms. "Oh, you have no idea what my dreams are." He walked to her and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. She flushed and tried to ignore the hot burning sensation his lips left behind. "Wanna see my room?" He took her hand and led her inside, locking the door behind them. Xavier pushed her gently against the door and brushed a kiss against her neck. He traced up her arm and played with her bra strap. "This is my room." He moved away from her. It took her a few seconds to come back to her senses. Jade walked around the huge room. It had a king-sized bed with side tables, a mini bar, several doors leading to God knew where, and a balcony. The marble floors matched the walls. Jade sat on one of the couches that made up his mini living room and watched him take off his suit jacket. "Let me guess, your favorite color is black," she said. "I wonder what gave it away." He turned to her. "Come here." He gestured with two fingers. Jade lazily but happily walked over to him. He grabbed her by the waist and pulled her closer. Xavier took his time inhaling her scent and slowly nipped at her earlobe. He placed a lingering kiss on her jaw and cheek. He kissed her cheekbone, temples, eyebrows, and finally her eyelids. Jade breathed deeply, closed her eyes, and waited for his lips. When they never came, she slowly opened her eyes. He was staring down at her intensely. She could see the desire in his eyes, but something held him back. Jade wrapped her hands around his neck and drew him closer. She was completely flustered and couldn't think straight. All she wanted was his attention. He kissed her nose and stepped back with a smile. "Have lunch. I have to go. I'll see you tomorrow," he said and opened the door for her. Jade collected herself and walked out. She felt his eyes on her and felt embarrassed because she knew he could see how flushed she was. As she sat on her bed, she still wasn't able to understand what had happened. Xavier had been so close to her, and yet she couldn't have him. He held himself back. But why? The question is, why do you want him? her mind whispered. She had completely forgotten to put her plan into action. Whenever she was close to him, it was a completely different feeling. She lost her senses and couldn't think straight. "You hate him! Always remember that! Don't let him get to you like that!" She fell back onto the bed. What was happening to her?
