Emma Jane was glad for her high school French, no matter how rusty it was. She hadn’t been completely honest with Vanessa when she’d told her it had been a long time, but she definitely hadn’t spoken French very often in the time since they’d been together. Occasionally, during her travels before Vanessa, she’d encountered people who only spoke French or Cree, so she’d had a chance to keep her skills at a basic level where she could converse enough to get her questions answered. But the French this girl spoke was not the modern, Parisian French she was accustomed to.
If Emma Jane wasn't mistaken, based on the condition and style of her clothing, this girl had died centuries earlier. Which made it even more interesting that her ghost had chosen to appear to them in a tunnel tour
