The howls got louder fast. The wolves were coming, and they were coming fast. My heart was pounding so fast as I stood behind Rowan. The bite mark on my shoulder throbbed like crazy.
Rowan stood in front of me in the form of a massive black wolf, fur raised, teeth exposed in a low growl.
My back was resting against the trees, and my dress was torn and hanging off me. My thighs were still sticky from his c*m. The new bond in my chest pulled tight. I could feel Rowan’s strength and how angry he was.
I could see shadows moving in the forest, and a few seconds later, five wolves came out. They were bigger than the normal wolves I heard about; their eyes glowed a unique green, yellow, and blue. They could smell our scent right away, including s*x, my blood, and the fresh bond . Their bodies tensed with excitement.
A big grey wolf moved forward, its fur was dirty and matted, and one of its ears had been ripped off, probably from old fights. The wolves snapped their jaws and lunged at Rowan, trying to get a reaction out of him. Through the bond, I felt Rowan’s cold possessiveness. The grey wolf attacked Rowan; they crashed together, rolled on the ground and growled aggressively, biting and clawing at each other. I felt every hit through the bond. I felt a sharp pain in my shoulder when Rowan got bitten. It made me dizzy, but I couldn’t look away from him.
The fight didn’t stop on its own; it ended with a bark coming from the shadows. A massive wolf stepped out from the trees, which was the Alpha. He had black eyes which stared straight at me. He sniffed the air, smelling Rowan’s c*m on my legs and the mark on my shoulder.
“Give her to me,” his voice pushed into my head. “She is meat.”
Rowan growled at him, coming in between us.
While the Alpha focused on Rowan, a silver-furred wolf walked quietly from the back of the pack. I could tell she was a Luna. She was smaller and leaner than the other wolves. She walked around the fore, st staying low. Her eyes kept flicking towards me.
She didn’t look aggressive. She looked like she was waiting for the right moment. When the Alpha stepped closer to Rowan, the Luna ran forward and snapped a thick branch. The loud crack echoed through the trees.
The Alpha’s head turned towards the sound. He lost focus on Rowan and turned towards the sound.
The Luna looked straight at me. Her golden eyes were calm but persistent, as if she were trying to talk to me. She flicked her ears towards a narrow trail to the north and made a faint bark.
“Run”.
I could hear Rowan’s voice in my mind, through our bond. He was clearer than before, and I could feel his plan and his desperation. The Luna had just bought us a few seconds.
“NOW!, KAIRA! GO!!”
I ran. My bare feet pounded the dirt down the narrow trail. Branches scratched my arms and face, but I didn’t stop.
Behind me, chaos erupted. I could hear violent growls and snarks as Rowan fought to hold them back. I felt his pain and effort through the bond, but I also felt a strange flicker of help from the Luna. She was distracting the others, moving around the forest and creating confusion.
The silver wolf had risked herself for us. I didn’t know why, but I was grateful.
Rowan broke free a few moments later. He caught up fast, running alongside me. Blood matted his dark fur, and his breathing was rough, but he stayed right beside me, guiding me through the thick trees.
The howls started again, this time they were angry and getting closer. They were chasing us.
We ran deeper into the forest under the red moon. My legs burned, but the bond kept me going. Every few seconds, I felt flashes of Rowan’s pain, protectiveness, and relief that the Luna had helped.
I kept thinking about her. Why did she do it? Was she against the Alpha? Whatever her reason, she had given us a real chance, a real chance at survival.
We pushed through deeper bushes and jumped over tree branches. Rowan nudged me when I drifted off the path. The howls kept getting closer, but we stayed ahead.
The bond made us stronger now. I could feel Rowan’s thoughts more clearly:
“Keep going”. “Stay with me.”
We weren’t safe yet. The pack was still behind us. But thanks to that one female wolf who chose to help, we had a fighting chance.
I ran harder, staying close to Rowan’s side. His scent was still on my skin,n and his voice lived in my head.
We were in this together now.
