Chapter Six

The door shook violently again as Rowan walked to open it. He pulled the heavy door open, and cold air rushed in. On the porch, collapsed in a heap, was the silver wolf. Blood matted her fur,r and her breathing was fast and shallow. She looked half-dead. Rowan didn’t hesitate; he lifted her carefully and carried her inside. I locked the door behind him while he lay her on the rug in front of the fireplace. Her eyes fluttered open for a second, then they closed again. I ran to the kitchen, grabbed more towels and the first-aid kit, and knelt beside her. My hands were still shaking. Rowan held her steady and carefully while I cleaned deep cuts on her side and shoulder. She whimpered so much when the antiseptic touched the open wounds. I felt so bad. “She’s lost too much blood,” Rowan said quietly. I pressed gauze against a deep gash. “Why did you help us?” I asked her, even though she probably couldn’t hear me. Her eyes opened again, pale blue, and she looked so tired. “Your blood….,” she whispered. “It’s rare. The Alpha… he wants it. I couldn’t let him take you like that.” Her breath sounded so shaky. Then her head dropped back to the ground, and she passed out. I knelt down straight, staring at her. A wave of guilt sat heavy on my chest. She was hurt because of me, because of whatever was in my veins. Rowan touched my shoulder. “Hey. Breathe.” “I didn’t ask for any of this,” I said. My voice cracking He pulled me up and into his arms. I pressed my face against his neck. I could smell his sweat, blood, and that warm scent that was just Rowan, and something about it made me feel queasy inside, but in the best way possible. The guilt didn’t disappear, but it mixed with heat. I needed him. Needed to feel something other than this weight. I kissed him first,t then he kissed me back, hands sliding down to my ass and pulling me against him. We moved to the couch without speaking. He sat down, and I climbed onto his lap, straddling him. My skirt was already bunched around my waist. This time it wasn’t gentle. I reached between us, and I stroked his d**k once, then sank onto him. We both groaned. He filled me. The bond flared hot between us, stronger than before. Suddenly, I could feel everything he felt: the tight heat of my p***y around him, how wet I was, how good it felt for him. The pleasure doubled back into me and made my whole body burn. “s**t,” I gasped, starting to move. Rowan gripped my hips and thrust up to meet me. Every stroke felt deeper. The heat inside me kept growing until I was shaking. I rode him harder, desperate, chasing the feeling. I could feel his pleasure and mine at the same time. It was too much and not enough. He buried his face in my neck, breathing hard. “You’re burning up.” “I know,” I whispered. “Don’t stop.” The bond kept feeding me his sensations. Every thrust sent sparks through both of us. I felt how much he wanted to come, and it pushed me closer. My thighs shook so much. I dug my nails into his shoulders and moved faster. Then the vision hit me. I saw a younger version of Rowan, he was laughing so much, and the sky was so blue and clear. A woman with blonde hair and bright blue eyes was with him. They were playing and shifting between wolf and human form. They touched each other and kissed like they couldn’t get enough of each other. They were mates…. like REAL MATES. The love between them was so strong it hurt to watch. I felt how happy he had been with her. The image started to darken, and I tried to see what happened to her, but my vision cut off sharply. I came back to the present, still riding Rowan. My body was trembling. All of a sudden, the Luna wolf opened her eyes,s then she reached out and grabbed my arm, her fingers surprisingly strong. “The bond,” she said, her eyes were wide with fear. “It’s waking up inside you… You can’t control it now.” She let go and fell back, unconscious again. I looked down at Rowan, still deep inside me. My skin felt like it was on fire. The heat hadn’t gone away. If anything, it was getting worse. My body was already aching for more, even though we had just finished. Rowan stared at me, breathing hard. “Kaira… what’s happening?” I didn’t know how to answer. The need was still there, clawing at me. Stronger now. I moved my hips once, slowly, and a fresh wave of heat rolled through me. The bond wasn’t just connecting us anymore. It was changing me. She let go of my hand and fell back, unconscious again. I looked down at Rowan, my heart was pounding so fast. He was still deep inside me. My skin felt like it was on fire. The heat hadn’t gone away. If anything, it was getting worse. My body was already aching from the former, even though we had just finished. Rowan stared at me, breathing hard. “Kaira… what’s wrong?” I didn’t know how to answer. The need was still there, clawing at me. Stronger now. I moved my hips once, slowly, and a fresh wave of heat rolled through me. The bond wasn’t just connecting us anymore. It was changing me.
