The day of the tea party has arrived.
Tatiana dressed meticulously for this particular day, keeping in mind that what she wears will be more than just a dress, but an armor that will protect her on the battlefield. She wore a dark blue off-shoulder long tea dress with detailed embroidery, which she accessorized with diamond jewelry.
Parties among nobilities are like battlegrounds. However, instead of the blades from swords, they use sharp words and double-ended statements to bring other people down. That’s why, how they look matters the most. Their clothes would be the first thing people will look into, and a single flaw can turn into a weakness that others could use against them.
Even a single loose thread can cause someone to be humiliated for a whole year. As such, from the designer of the dress down to the smallest detail of the embroidery, everything should be perfect.
Tatiana looked at herself in the mirror for the last time before walking out of her room and making her way towards the carriage. Mia was following behind her.
Inside the carriage, Tatiana thought of her plans again.
Lady Preston is an important character in the novel. However, Tatiana was never on good terms with her. In fact, she bullied her for a long time. If she wants to form an alliance with Lady Preston then she first has to improve their relationship.
But how should I do it?
Tatiana pondered over it until the carriage came to a stop.
“My lady, we’re here,” Mia announced and got off the carriage first. Tatiana followed after and saw a man, who looks like he's in his 40s, waiting for her.
“Greetings, my lady. I’m the head butler of House Preston, Davis.” The man greeted and bowed his head.
Tatiana smiled at him. “Good day.” she greeted back.
Davis became speechless as he did not expect Tatiana to return his greetings.
Is this really the lady from House Cromello? He can't help but wonder.
As far as he can remember, the lady from House Cromello is the infamous evil lady who’s rude to everyone and acts like a brat. She was also the one who bullied her lady before. But then why is this lady in front of him acting like the complete opposite? Not only does she look mature and elegant, but she also acts like one and even greeted a mere servant like him.
She's acting very strange. Even her aura was strange. It was as though she's a completely different person.
Meanwhile, Tatiana started feeling conscious when Davis only stared at her and didn’t utter any word.
Was he that shocked just because I greeted him back? It was only a small act of kindness, but it already has a big impact on other people. I must really have a bad reputation.
“Is there something wrong, Mr. Davis?” Tatiana couldn’t help but ask, causing Davis to come back to his senses.
He cleared his throat and composed himself again.
“I apologize, my lady. Your exceptional beauty made me stunned for a moment.” he reasoned. Tatiana only smiled at him in response. “Then, I'll bring you to the party, my lady. Please, follow me."
Davis extended his arms towards the direction of the castle and led the way. Tatiana and Mia followed behind him while also quietly looking around.
Their castle was magnificent, as one would expect from a Marquess House. It wasn't as large as Cromello's Residence, but it was nevertheless comparable to a modern-day shopping mall.
While walking through the corridors of the castle, Tatiana noticed some maids who run away at the sight of her.
Tatiana’s eyebrows furrowed.
Was the original Tatiana that evil for them to run away like that? They make it seem like I will punish them if they do not hide from me. Tsk.
Tatiana has to fix her reputation to the public somehow, but right now, there are more important things she has to focus on. She shook her head and decided to put it aside. For now, she has to concentrate on how she can build a good connection with Lady Preston.
Tatiana continued following Davis. Not long after, they reached an indoor garden where tables and chairs were neatly set up. The other ladies were already there, and they all turned to Tatiana when she entered.
She glanced around and inwardly sighed.
