CHAPTER 58
The ruckus in the meeting hall can be heard from the outside. Noah let out a deep sigh, prepping himself, before entering the hall. Aaron followed after him.
As they walked in, the hall fell silent as the officials' eyes followed them to the front. Noah and Aaron both greeted His Majesty, who only nodded in response. His Majesty’s eyes met Noah and he was as if asking him what was happening and at the same time telling him to handle this issue well.
Noah understood this but didn’t say anything to His Majesty. He knew what he needed to do. His only hope was that it would be a success.
He gave Aaron a small nod before standing in front of the podium and facing the officials, while Aaron took his seat beside his father.
The hall was filled with a heavy atmosphere that one could tremble if placed in Noah’s position. However, Noah was calm and his face didn’t show any expression.
“Let us begin,” he announced.
The silence continued for a while before Marquess Browne did the honor to ask first,
“Your highness, is it true that you already have the evidence that points to Baron Miller?”
Noah exhaled through his nose before answering, “Yes.”
The officials voiced their dissatisfaction amongst themselves, causing the hall to be filled with a cacophony of noise.
“Then why is the investigation still being prolonged, your highness?!” Marquess Morgan exclaimed. The officials were in an uproar once again.
However, Noah remained emotionless as the officials continue to throw him questions.
They were angry for a very obvious reason. Noah kept quiet about the fact that there was already a suspect. Not to mention, the pieces of evidence were obvious enough that Baron Miller could be arrested on the spot and no one could say anything about it.
During this critical time, it was what they badly needed. The public was already demanding an answer since the fact that the suspect was still on the loose was affecting their way of living. People were scared that they refuse to go outside. That’s why some of the businesses were still closed. Not to mention, the families of the victims were also starting to get impatient.
However, Noah chose not to disclose the information and prolonged the investigation. Even His Majesty was confused by this. Everything could have been resolved easily if Noah had merely told the court about it. Or at the very least informed His Majesty of his plans. Now, Noah’s credibility and capability are being questioned.
His Majesty sighed as he looked at the commotion inside the hall. He then looked at Noah, who was only standing there while silently accepting all the criticisms being thrown at him.
He knows his son was not someone to act impulsively. Noah was a rational leader who doesn’t do things that would affect the people of the empire. He always put his people before himself. That’s why, even though His Majesty was disappointed, he still tried to understand his son.
Maybe he does have a valid reason after all.
His Majesty raised his hand to silence the court. After that, he signaled for Noah to continue. The latter gave a small nod.
"It's true that all of the evidence we've gathered thus far points to one person: Baron Miller. However, apart from the fact that we only recently obtained those evidence, there was something odd about them, hence why we chose to investigate more before revealing the information." He continued.
