Chapter 37

CHAPTER 37  The Cromello family arrived at the Capital Arena. They were about to step out of the carriage when they saw a very familiar person. Surprisingly, the Crown Prince was outside, waiting for the. “What is His Highness doing here?” Tatiana heard Aaron mumble before he stepped out of the carriage.  Tatiana also stepped out, and the duke and the duchess followed behind her. Together, they all walked closer to the Crown Prince, who also walked closer to them.   “Greetings, Your Highness.” The duke greeted. The duchess also did the same, but Tatiana just did a curtsy.  “How have you been, Duke and Duchess?” Noah asked in response.  “We’re doing great, your highness.” The duke replied. “Is there any problem, your highness? It seems that you were waiting for us.”  "Yes, that's right. I've come to escort the lady," Noah said and turned to Tatiana, who was taken aback. "I apologize for not visiting you in your residence this morning as I had some essential affairs to attend to. However, please give me a chance and allow me to accompany you inside, at the very least."  Tatiana was speechless for a moment. Did His Highness really wait for them to arrive just so he could escort me inside? That’s so unlike him!   In the novel, escorting Tatiana is the task Noah despises the most. He's not very fond of girls in general, but he was especially frigid with Tatiana. As such, to even imagine Noah waiting under the sun just to escort her inside is truly unbelievable.   But wait...maybe I'm assuming things too much. Maybe this is his way to discuss something with me? Maybe he needs something from me? Could it be related to today’s fight or to Kai? Does he already know Kai and I were friends? What is it? Tatiana was in deep thought trying to find answers to her questions when a voice suddenly called her which made her snap back to reality. “...Tati,” The duke called softly.  It was also then when she realized she hasn’t answered Noah yet, and everyone is looking at her, waiting.  She cleared her throat slightly before answering,  “I-I suppose...” she said, softly.   Noah smiled and offered his hand. Tatiana placed her hand on his, and both of them started walking inside the venue. The duke, duchess, and Aaron was quietly following behind them with their strange expressions plastered on their faces. The Capital Arena consists of several buildings that surround the actual arena. These buildings are used by the royal family and the nobles as their waiting area and meeting area as well. There is also a small hospital, and a storage house, where all swords and fighting equipment are kept.  Since the event has not yet started, Noah led Tatiana to a waiting room specifically assigned to the House Cromello.   They both entered the room and Noah ordered Mia, who was following them, to get some refreshments.   As Mia left the room, both of them sat across each other without daring to utter another word. They were just staring at each other, trying to read each other’s minds. Because of that, Tatiana felt a sense of déjà vu.  It seems like every time they meet, they would always become wary of each other and would always try to read each other’s minds. But in the first place, they aren’t supposed to meet this often and intimate if the novel was followed anyways.  This just proved that the novel has indeed changed. It’s what Tatiana really wanted; however, she can’t help but feel extremely anxious at the uncertainties that are to come. The novel is changing drastically that she couldn’t keep up anymore.  The bombing incident is the first evidence. She didn’t know it would happen, so she wasn’t able to avoid it. As a result, her life and His Highness’ life were almost in danger.   Tatiana inwardly sighed at this thought. It was a lot easier when I’m still so sure of what will happen in the future.  ---  reyankleyr
