After a while, a beautiful woman with pink hair and blue eyes approached Tatiana.
If I remember correctly, she’s Lady Frances Angela Preston.
Tatiana secretly examined her from head to toe, and she couldn't help but be captivated. The novel just didn’t give her enough credit!
Lady Preston was wearing a yellow ball gown with a constricted bodice that accentuate her curves. It has some golden embroidery on the bodice and on the bottom part of the skirt that added elegance to her overall look.
Her beauty was simply unrivaled that if Tatiana was to judge, she would say Lady Preston was more beautiful than Lady Beatrice.
It’s official, Lady Preston is my girl crush! She thought to herself.
“Lady Tatiana, I’m glad you made it.” Lady Preston greeted, making Tatiana come back to her senses.
Tatiana smiled at her and said with the kindest voice, “Lady Frances, how have you been? Thank you for inviting me.”
Lady Frances was stunned for a while, but unlike her butler, Davis, she was able to bring back her poise quickly.
Did Lady Tatiana become kind all of a sudden?
Tatiana, on the other hand, noticed her momentary shock and smiled to herself.
She must be very confused right now...
“I have been well, how about you? I heard you were sick for a while.” Lady Frances replied. The other ladies also started approaching them.
“Oh, it’s nothing serious. I’ve already recovered, but my father insists on me to rest more. So, as much as I wanted to see all of you, my father just didn’t allow me to. I apologize for that.” Tatiana smiled sweetly.
Lady Frances, as well as the other ladies, were shocked. Tatiana suddenly became gentle that she even apologized for something that small. She was acting like the complete opposite of the Lady Tatiana they used to know.
“T-then, that’s great. I’m glad you’ve recovered.” Lady Frances said. “Ah, I guess we can start now. Everyone, please take a seat,” she added.
The ladies, including Tatiana, took their respective seats, and the maids started serving the refreshments.
“Today’s tea is from the east. I hope it will suit your taste.” Lady Frances stated. “Then, please try it.”
Tatiana was the first to take a sip, followed by the other ladies. Among the nobility, it is basic etiquette to let the person with the highest rank in the room drink or have a bite first. So, since Tatiana is from a Ducal House, she gets the honor to drink tea first.
“Lady Frances, this tea is amazing!” one of the ladies said.
“I agree! It has a floral fragrance and tasted sweet at the same time.”
Lady Frances smiled.
“That’s great to hear. I’ll send some leaves to all of you after the party,” she said. Lady Frances then turned to Tatiana. “How about you Lady Tatiana? Does it suit your taste?”
Tatiana looked at her and smiled. “I think it’s a great tea. Thank you, Lady Frances.”
Once again, Lady Frances was stunned as well as the other ladies. All of them were thinking the same thing,
Did Lady Tatiana just say thank you? And to Lady Frances?
Everyone knew Tatiana and Lady Frances had a bad relationship. Tatiana would always bully Lady Frances and does everything to humiliate her.
That’s why, they were puzzled as to why Lady Frances would invite her to this party, and when they learned Tatiana was coming, they assumed she would destroy everything as she always does. However, the complete opposite happened.
Not only did Tatiana show up wearing a dress that was very different from what she used to wear, but she also acted friendly towards everyone. She apologized for something small and even thanked Lady Frances for the tea.
How was this possible? Did Lady Tatiana change or was she simply acting?
“I’m glad you like it, Lady Tatiana.” Lady Frances manages to reply despite her confusion.
Tatiana smiled at her in response.
She might look poise right now, but in reality, Tatiana was trembling inside. She’s anxious she might say something wrong. Even in her previous life, Jane has never attended a social gathering like this before, and now that she is Tatiana, she must act graceful and deserving of her status as a Duke's daughter.
“By the way, Lady Frances, I see that Lady Beatrice didn’t come today. Is she alright?” one of the ladies asked.
Tatiana became all ears at the mention of Lady Beatrice.
Right, she’s Lady Frances’ best friend. It didn’t make sense that she’s not present today. Where is she?
“I invited her, but she said she has something to do so she can’t join us today. However, she did send her regards to everyone.” Lady Frances replied and smiled.
Hm... what could be more important than her best friend's tea party?
“Well, that’s unfortunate.”
“Oh, speaking of Lady Beatrice. I heard she recently went to meet His Highness. According to the maids, she went there without notice.”
Tatiana turned to the lady who had just spoken. If she can remember clearly, she’s Lady Elena, daughter of Viscount Staena.
She went to meet His Highness? Hm... I guess I don’t have to worry about their relationship anymore.
“I heard about that too! I wonder what they talked about.” Lady Sophia, daughter of Viscount Capell, said.
The other ladies started chattering among themselves, making their own speculations as to why Lady Beatrice met His Highness. On the other hand, Tatiana and Lady Frances remained quiet while sipping their teas.
Tatiana was also curious, but not as much that she wanted to find out why. For her, the most important thing was that Lady Beatrice and His Highness were making progress.
“Lady Tatiana, what do you think?” Lady Lara, daughter of Count Valentine, asked. Now, everyone turned to Tatiana with anticipation. Even Lady Frances looked at her.
“Right! Since you’re His Highness’ fiancé, you must know something, Lady Tatiana." Lady Elena said eagerly.
Tatiana sipped her tea and smiled despite her nervousness. She had already expected the conversation to turn out like this, but what should she say?
She obviously doesn’t know what Lady Beatrice and His Highness talked about nor does she know the reason why they met in the first place. However, if she tells them that, they might be suspicious about her relationship with His Highness.
Although it is already known that Tatiana one-sidedly likes His Highness, they might still use it against her, which is even more troublesome.
Tatiana calmed herself down before answering in a nonchalant tone, “Well, His Highness did mention his meeting with Lady Beatrice, but I don’t know what they talked about. I think it’s none of my business, so I didn’t bother asking.”
The ladies looked disappointed; however, they didn’t dare to rebut back anymore. Tatiana may not say it directly, but her words imply that they should mind their own business.
Meanwhile, Lady Frances smirked to herself.
