CHAPTER 59
After the meeting, Noah went back to his office immediately, and Aaron followed after him.
“Your highness, what’s your plan now?” Aaron asked as soon as they entered the office.
Noah went straight to his desk and sat on his chair. He sighed.
Baron Miller was apprehended as His Majesty had ordered. He's now being held in the dungeon, and his trial is scheduled for the day after tomorrow.
Noah couldn’t really blame his father. He trusts his father and he knows that His Majesty had no choice but to do what he has to do. The public was already exerting pressure on the court. Noah was also aware of the potential damage to his reputation, and His Majesty would undoubtedly want to protect his son.
Besides, the outcome was evident from the beginning. The evidence was already there, and no matter what Noah says, the Aristocratic Faction would not let this opportunity to oppose him pass them by. So, if Noah can’t find the true culprit before the court trial, Baron Miller will be decapitated and it would already be too late after that.
“Continue the investigation, but make sure to do it discreetly,” Noah answered.
“Understood.”
“Also, did you find out how they became aware of our investigation?” Noah added.
Aaron averted his gaze and scratched the back of his neck, “About that...” he uttered.
Noah’s brows furrowed at his actions. “What is it?”
“Well...the report came earlier. Marquess Browne was the one who told the court about it, but I suppose he found out about it after hearing rumors among the palace maids.”
“Rumors?” Noah repeated.
How come there are rumors? I’m pretty sure the investigation was done discreetly. Unless...
“Yes. The rumors started in the palace kitchen. And... the one who spread it said it was from a mysterious man wearing a black robe.” Aaron answered, anxiously.
“Get to the point,” Noah said, getting impatient.
Aaron sighed. “It was Investor J.”

Tatiana was relaxing in her room while leisurely drinking her tea. After she apologized to Lady Frances, she felt like a heavyweight was lifted off her shoulders.
When she said those words, she felt like they didn’t come from her. It was as if the original Tatiana told her to say those.
Tatiana smiled.
Maybe this is what Tatiana wanted after all...
Tatiana took another sip from her tea. However, her peace didn’t last long when the door swung open revealing Mia who was panting frantically.
“My lady!” she said in a hurry. She ran closer to Tatiana as she was catching her breath.
Tatiana stood up and looked at her worriedly. “Calm down, Mia,” she said and guided her to take a sit. She offered her a glass of water and Mia accepted it hurriedly.
“Tell me what happened,” Tatiana said.
Mia exhaled deeply before answering, “My lady, Baron Miller was arrested.”
Tatiana froze. “What?”
How is that possible? Is that what His Highness decided in the end?
At that moment, Tatiana couldn’t help but feel disappointed. She was expecting Noah would know better and would not come to such a hasty conclusion. She even hinted at it to him, and yet he still opted to arrest Baron Miller in the end.
When Mia noticed her disappointment, she quickly explained.
“But, my lady, it wasn’t His Highness’ fault,” she said. “I looked into it before coming here, and it was Marquess Browne who told the court.”
Tatian’s brows furrowed.
It's a good thing it wasn't His Highness, but Marquess Browne? If I remember correctly, he’s a member of the Aristocratic Faction.
“How did he find out?” Tatiana asked, puzzled.
“They said it was from the rumors among the palace maids,” Mia answered.
Rumors? How come there are rumors? Just what is going on?
“Did you find out who spread the rumors?”
Mia shook her head and bowed slightly. “I apologize, my lady. I was in a hurry that I didn’t get to probe further.”
Tatiana nodded in understanding.
“Can you look into it more? We have to know who spread the rumors.” Tatiana said.
“I understand, my lady. But... what are we going to do now?” Mia asked worriedly.
Tatiana sighed. She was also thinking about that.
Baron Miller has already been arrested, so unless they find the real culprit, they can’t really do anything anymore.
His Highness... I wonder what’s he’s thinking right now.
His Highness is obviously in a difficult situation right now as it has been exposed that they conducted a secret investigation and hid the fact that pieces of evidence were already found. It's likely that His Highness won't be able to get out of this lightly, especially since the first to learn about it is a member of the Aristocratic Faction.
He's probably having a hard time right now.
“Well...I’m sure His Highness has a plan.” Tatiana replied, quietly. She then smiled at Mia to assure her. “Don’t worry too much about it, Mia. And thank you for informing me.”
Though she was still worried, Mia nodded her head and smiled back at her. “I understand, my lady. Then, I’ll leave you to rest now. Please call me if you need anything, my lady.”
Tatiana nodded and watched Mia leave the room.
When she was finally alone, Tatiana sighed again.
She was suspecting that the true culprit was behind this mess. They probably spread that rumor on purpose, so His Highness will have no choice but to admit it.
But how did they find out about our investigation? I’m pretty sure His Highness would make sure to keep it a secret. Also, speaking of, His Highness may request for me soon. He’ll probably ask to meet Investor J once more.
His Highness may seek aid from Investor J now that their investigation has been made public and Baron Miller has been arrested. Noah couldn't readily undertake another investigation, especially since the officials may be keeping a close eye on him for some time. That said, His Highness might want Investor J to continue the investigation in his stead.
Tatiana, on the other hand, was concerned that if she met His Highness as Investor J again, she would be caught. His Highness found out she was Julio before, so it wouldn’t be surprising if he discovers she’s Investor J as well.
But Tatiana couldn’t allow that. His Highness should not find out she’s Investor J. It was already suspicious that she was an expert in fighting. If it’s revealed that she is Investor J, who has taken the business world by storm, His Highness will undoubtedly question her. If so, it’s possible that he will discover that she was not the real Tatiana.
I should do something about this...
