CHAPTER 14 Tatiana had no choice but to accept Noah’s hand. Together, they walked towards the dance floor while the guests all stepped aside to give them space. It was the first dance of the night. In this world, it was a custom to give the first dance to the hosts of the ball or the highest-ranking couple in the room. In this case, the first dance must be given to the Crown Prince and his fiance. Noah and Tatiana started dancing. From the guests' perspective, the couple looked very sweet and stunning. It was their first time to see them dance together and they thought that they actually made a good couple. They were both beautiful and elegant, and their dancing was so in sync that they looked very magical. The guests looked at them with awe. Meanwhile, Tatiana was feeling very uncomfortable. If it was the original Tatiana, she would have been very happy and she would have aced this dancing. But, she was not the original Tatiana and she, more than anyone else, does not have a talent for dancing. Although on the outside, they looked very sync and beautiful, the reality was that Tatiana was having a hard time keeping up with Noah’s steps. She couldn’t even count how many times she had stepped on his feet. “I know you don’t like me, but please spare my foot.” Noah can’t help but complain. He looked down on Tatiana and showed a cheeky smile. He wasn't really feeling any pain and just wanted to tease Tatiana. Tatiana looked up at him apologizingly. “I’m sorry. I’m not good at dancing.” Tatiana said looking guilty. She tried to keep up again, but it only ended up Noah’s foot getting stepped on. “That’s it. I’m carrying you,” Noah said and slightly lifted Tatiana. As a result, Tatiana was almost floating as Noah carried her while they dance together. It was not obvious to the guests, instead, they even looked more charming and enthralling. “Weren’t you the Miss perfect who’s good at everything, including dancing?” Noah whispered to her ears. Tatiana felt her blood rose to her cheeks at their closeness. “N-no. I forgot how to.” Tatiana reasoned. Tatiana was indeed labeled as the most wife material in the empire. She was known to be good at everything with wife duties, which includes embroidery, dancing, socializing, and accounting. However, she was no longer the original Tatiana who was good at these things. She has no talent in dancing and she's a failure in embroidery. The only thing she's confident in is fighting, and maybe accounting. “Hmm... I see.” Noah responded. He knew Tatiana had changed, but sometimes, her actions just doesn't make any more sense. They continued to dance in silence when Noah remembered something. “You didn’t tell me you were sick a year ago. What happened?” He asked. He remembered the Emperor mentioned earlier that Tatiana got sick. However, he never heard of it. There wasn’t even a letter sent to them or her brother back when they were in the war. “It was nothing. Just a mild fever.” Tatiana reasoned again and avoided his eyes. She doesn’t really know what happened to the original Tatiana as well, so she couldn’t give any more honest answer. Noah only stared at her and observed her face. She is carelessly showing her emotions that Noah could see she was hiding something. And he wanted to badly know what it is she was hiding. Noah didn’t ask further and they just continued to dance. When the music ended, they were surrounded by loud applause. Tatiana and Noah bowed at each other, and Noah guided her to the sides. The guests then started to dance with their own partners on the dancefloor. “Your Highness!” Noah and Tatiana stopped when they heard someone called. They both turned around and saw a beautiful lady. The lady was wearing a white and green dress, and her hair was blonde that it was shining every time the light hit it. Her eyes were also like emerald, sparkling as she smiled widely at them. Noah looked at her with furrowed brows, but Tatiana looked at her with recognition and shock. At first glance, Tatiana knew who she was. She is no other than the heroine of the story, Lady Beatrice Ivonne Taylor. -- Meanwhile, on the other side of the room, a man was intently staring at Tatiana. The man is wearing noble attire with his ginger hair neatly styled up. The man’s name is Kael Arder or commonly known as Kai. He is the same man that George brought to meet with Noah and told him about the silver-haired and purple-eyed savior from that night. Noah invited Kai to this banquet because he hoped Kai could point out who he thought was that mysterious savior from that night. After Kai said that the mysterious man was actually a woman, Noah was sure that he could find her at this banquet. He had suspicions, but he wanted Kai to confirm it personally. Hence why Kai wore noble attire to disguise and blend himself with the crowd. This way, it would be easier for him to find the person that they are looking for. That said, ever since Noah and Tatiana entered the hall earlier, he had not left his gaze at Tatiana. Kai thought that Tatiana looked and felt familiar that he just can’t take his eyes off her. He, however, made sure that he stayed hidden in the shadows. Where did I saw her? Who is she? His mind was filled with questions, and the more she looked at Tatiana, the more confused he gets. It wasn’t long when he realized that Tatiana was the mysterious woman they were looking for. Her silver hair and purple eyes gave it away. However, Kai can’t help but feel that he knows Tatiana more than that. He feels like he knows Tatiana personally. Then, suddenly, a memory came to him. “Just like what I’ve told you, I have a different path I want to take. That path...will not allow us to meet again.” It was a sentence from the strong and talented woman he met a year ago that trained him into a skilled fighter. That same woman who became his best friend but left him a few weeks ago. “J?” No, she can’t be. J is just an ordinary commoner who’s a skilled fighter. Then, he remembered the stories of Jonas, the poor boy that Tatiana saved. “She was so great! She only used a long stick and she was like dancing while fighting the bad guys!” If that is true, then J is the only person he knew who could fight with a stick and looked like she was dancing. Then, that means J and Lady Tatiana—the same rumored evil lady of the House Cromello and the fiance of the Crown Prince—is the same person! -- reyankleyr
