It's been a month of nonstop activity. It had been a long and arduous journey. I hadn't gone to school in weeks, and I hadn't even been in my own house when I got a message that my great father had dropped me out of university, but I just shrugged it off while talking to Jack.
The only reason why I took up psychology is to understand my mother, and people say it's impossible. Now that I am with someone who understands me, why would I settle for less? So, we worked on it every day and night. I'm not in the field of science, but I helped him make this invention worth trying.
And as weeks passed by, I saw the other side of him. Every night he went to this lab and held his ceased father's hand, whispering things that his heart could not speak about. It's a strange feeling, but I just showed up and hugged him that night. So now he's being clingy, so I did my best to push him away so hard—literally and figuratively.
"Sam, I think we're ready."
I looked at him with a disgusted face.
"No, not what you're thinking. I'm referring to the invention. "
He laughed, so I slapped him on his shoulder.
"Are you ready?"
I closed my eyes as I held my mother's hand, who was still in awe of what she saw. She thinks she's in a fairy tale, but I must play along so that she will not cry. I breathed heavily as I nodded my head, "Always am."
I started taking off my mother's clothes, leaving her undergarments as I guided her body to lie down on the incubator.
"Close your eyes, Mom. You will have a happy ending tale."
She smiled at me, and her words made my whole world stop; "You're my beautiful daughter."
I couldn't help but cry as I hugged her so tightly. I know that there will be instances that I can never change, but all I want right now is to make her happy.
"I love you, Mom."
I closed the shell and looked at Jack who was silently watching me. I turned my back and started to undress myself before I lay down on the incubator next to my mom. He smiled at me before he closed the shell, "You look so beautiful."
I rolled my eyes. I tried to watch his reflection on the side of my incubator. I saw him taking off his shirt and pants and clicking the button on his father's shell the same way I did to my mom before he entered the shell beside me. He tilted his head to look at me.
"Let's travel back in time, shall we?"
I nodded and smiled.
