Startled, my pulse quickened.
"I'll be your girlfriend, Dane." The sheets rustled against her skin. "For three months, I'll be your fake girlfriend."
My breath slowed. Time stretched as moments blurred between us.

All that mattered was that she wanted me.
"Aurelia." I exhaled sharply, leaning closer towards her. "I don't need a girlfriend."
Her face dropped. Brows creasing and lips parted.
"Why?" The word fell sharply. "This is why I don't trust anyone anymore."

"You asked me to shift, begged me even!" Her voice rose. "But now that you've seen that part of me, you want nothing to do with me."
