Mark and Sofia agreed to take Olivia after school, as Jim took Annabel to the hospital. A nurse showed them to a room where Annabel was told to change into a gown before being taken to the preoperative holding area. Jim could stay with her.
The surgeon drew marks using a felt-tip pen where she would make the incision. Then they took Annabel into the anaesthesia room and Jim had to wait. They injected her with something before being wheeled through to the operating theatre where they gave her a general anaesthetic and she fell asleep.
Jim waited in the hospital room for three hours before staff brought Annabel in. He stayed with her until the end of visiting time; she looked in a great deal of discomfort.
