“I have some good news,” Jim said when Annabel’s picture appeared on his big stretch. “I have had two offers from universities much closer to home.”
“That’s great,” she beamed. “Which ones?”
“Politics research at Lancaster or politics and international research at Leeds.”
“Both are still some distance by public transport, but with a car you could get to either in an hour,” she suggested.
“However, Newcastle have told me they could consider me for a Vice Chancellor position.”
“You’re not going to take it, are you?”
“Of course not. After so long with no offers, I’m now being inundated. There might be a possibility of lecturing part-time at both institutions.”
