It was an unusually beautiful day. The first thing Jim noticed amiss was that there was no water in the tap. Fortunately, he had already linked a hose up to the stream. The electric light was off, but that was nothing new. There had been a lot of power cuts of late. More than usual. His stretch had no network connection, but that had also been intermittent lately. After breakfast, he walked into the village to see whether their water had been cut off as well. “The gas too,” said Mark. “And we don’t have any network either.
