This book began life as the prequel to When the Well Runs Dry. The backbone of the story is loosely based on the diaries of Victor Klemperer, with ideas taken from the works of Robert Tressell and Yanis Varoufakis mixed with my own fears. Part one of what was When the Well Runs Dry now makes up the bulk of the final section of this book and the rest of When the Well Runs Dry will form the basis of book three in the Collapse series, Insurgency, which will be released in February 2022.
