Looking at the deserted house is another reason why I prefer to work in the office. At least I'm not alone unlike here that even though it's quiet but it's too quiet for me where I couldn't think of any ideas.
I took a bubble bath to empty my mind and calm myself. I prepare a glass of champagne beside me and played soothing music while waiting for the water to get cold.
I already have three glasses of champagne when the water gets cold, I step out in the tub and rinse the bubble out myself.
I change into a pair of white T-shirts and khaki short pants. I get my blower to blow my hair dry.
Thinking about what dinner I would have, while I'm doing my skincare. There was a loud booming of thunder, together with heavy rain. The humid air began to get colder. By the look of it, I guess that it would not stop raining until tomorrow morning.1
'Hhmmm in this kind of weather, a hot ramen will do,'
I thought imagining myself eating ramen. I began to droll thinking of it, I began to prepare a large pot and condiments for my ramen.
Started a fire and boil a pot of water.
Just as the water boiled and before I could start cooking, there was a series of knocks rang out from the door.
"What is it? A delivery? But I have never ordered anything." Voicing out wondering why there would be individuals out there.
"Was it the courtier that Aryah sends me? But, isn't it supposed to arrive in at least three days?" I muttered confusedly.
I look through the pinhole and there was a person, or a correct term would be an embarrassed man. He was wet all over with a suitcase and a cage with a fluffy creature on it, knocking continuously on my door.
'This should not a delivery boy would look, then what is it?' Puzzled by the unknown person at my doorstep.
I was hesitant to open the door for him but I notice him shivering in cold. And thought it was cruel for me if I left him hanging in here. I open a small gap in the door enough for my little head to fit in.
"Hello. What can I do for you?" I ask inquiringly, trying to know what he wants.
"There... w-was a "Room for Rent" sign here... I-i would like to ask... if there is still... Uh-hmm available room for me to rent?" He said stuttering. Hugging the cage in his arm trying to keep the creature of it warm.
"Well, I'm looking for a girl housemate. I'm sorry."
I said apologetically to him. Well, I'm a girl you know. And it would be bad for my reputation if I live with a man.
"Well... I see. Thank you and sorry for disturbing you."
I thought he would insist and ask me for reconsideration. But facts prove me wrong. I began to reflect on myself. I thought that I'm being cruel to him.
I think he's a pretty decent man, never mind his state right now. He probably would never notice me. Looking at my plump body.
I think he wouldn't take advantage of me and won't give birth to any nasty thoughts. I was thinking deeply without noticing his thoughtful gazes.
I was taken aback when I look up. Coincidentally my eyes met his. I became flustered for no reason.
Like I was brought into a whirlpool. I cannot free myself. Like a bottomless pit that I can't get out of.
"Your eyes were the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen," I whispered honestly.
"Huh?" He asked flabbergasted.
"It's nothing, just assume that I am talking to myself. There's no room for rent nearby, not even an inn. I can let you stay for a night and you can continue to find a place to stay tomorrow." I offered.
"Well thank you, I'm going to find a place to stay. I can't bother you that much." He refused it immediately not wanting to disturb me.
"I insist. Really. you can't find a place to stay tonight and it rains heavily. Just get inside or else you'll get cold," I said opening my door wide and inviting him in.
"This is where you sleep, and if you need something just ask me. Come and change your shirt." I told him. "You can put your pet down, you can also turn the heater high so that you will be warm immediately," I suggested amiably to him.
"Thank you for letting us spend the night here," he said gratefully.
"No thanks. By the way, I'm in the kitchen, just come out a bit later and we will have dinner," I said and retreated from his room giving him space for himself.
'What happened to me? How could I let him stay with me? I asked myself in confusion after remembering what I had done.
There is nothing wrong with me letting him stay for a night, right? I console myself that I'm doing this for humanity. Well, I can't take back what I said so I can only hope that it will be alright.
When I arrive at the kitchen it was then I remembered that I'm making ramen. The pot of water has been boiling for quite some time.
Stirring the soup base. I tear open the seasoning packet that came from the ramen and pours the contents into the boiling water and stir it.
To ensure that the powder dissolves completely, I let the broth cooks for a minute. Making sure that the water is hot enough, I began the next step.
I cook the noodles for a couple of minutes and then I pull them out to fan them. It is to avoid being limp and soggy.
Waited until it cools down before I add it again into the broth. I added a poached egg, cooked meat, and a miso paste to add extra flavor.
The mouth-watering smell drifted into the air making me hungrier. I scooped two servings and began to make a table. I also arrange other dishes such as shrimp and chicken wings on the table.
The sound of the stomach growling attracts my attention. It wasn't me. I thought. Pondering a little while and then I remember that I am not alone now. I've gained a new housemate.
I looked for the sound and find him not far away from me, blushing from embarrassment. Carried his cat pet on his hands playing it with his fingers.
He is now dressed in a white shirt, his hair is still wet. There is a visible trace of large wet spots on his newly worn shirt.
I didn't see his face a little while ago because his hair covered most of his face. Now I could see his striking good looking face. His brown starry eyes and his shaped dark brows together with a long droopy nose fit perfectly in his oval-shaped face.
Male target!
I scream in my mind.
"Ahh-ahem. Well, I cooked ramen here, have a bowl to keep you warm." I shied away from him.
"Can I? I mean I'm house crashing here but do I have this privilege?" He asked looking unsure about what to do.
"Well, I can't let you starve to death, can I?" I rumored him. "Come, have a bite."
I ended it without a rebuttal. He was about to decline it but his stomach betrayed him. He can't help but scratch his head in embarrassment.
"Well, thank you. I haven't eaten since morning, I was occupied with finding a place to rent in." He explained with a visible blush on his face.
'Awe, so cute. I want to pinch his face," I muttered to myself thoughtfully.
"Next time never do that. A person's health is more important than anything else." I lectured.
"Noted," he said.
"I made your pet cat a tuna diet, I don't have any cat food here I can only make this," I said not knowing that it leave a deep impression on his heart.
Then we started to dig in. We ate silently but full of tacit understanding like this is not the first time we did this. Only the sound of chopsticks and the cry of the cat is often heard in the kitchen.
"Cyrill Salv-o, Cyrill Salvo."
His deep baritone voice rang out breaking the silence. I, who was in the middle of having a mouthful of noodles blinked in confusion.
"Huh?"
"Well, I thought you would like to know who you will be sheltering for a night."
My eyes can't help but light up at his words. And my fox-like eyes glint with a hint of slyness. But I seemed to hear him hesitate just now. Maybe it was just my illusion.
"Your name is uh-unique," I commented.
"Well, they also said that." He retorts back naturally with a trace of shyness.
"You look well-off what are you doing out there all wet and embarrassed?" I asked with curiosity.
"I'm not. I don't have a place to stay and I am looking for one. Do I look like from upper class men?" He joked.
'Maybe if I'm also an ordinary citizen, then you can fool me. But your standard act makes me doubt my guess,' I mouth off silently.
Maybe he is more used to socializing with poorer peoples that's why his acting skills has been honed. What a fearsome fellow, he could be planted as a spy in another company, and no one would doubt him at all.
He is the one you wouldn't want to be an enemy. His thinking was so deep as a bottomless pit. And also a troublesome competitor, I could tell.
"Don't be shy, call me if you need something."
And with that, I stand up from my seat however, before I could walk far, I hear him muttering in low voice.
"She's so good. Does she have the awareness that she just let a stranger sleep in her house? Why is she so casual?
His puzzled expression amused me. I couldn't help but twitch my mouth. And my lips evoked a helpless smile.
" I don't let anybody enters my house. I let you in because I know that you are a good person." I voiced out behind him catching him off guard.
"What!," he cries in fright. His harsh and crude action makes the stool he sat on, fall.
"So jumpy, is it guilty?" I teased. Laughing at his unsightly and disordered behavior.
'Pfffft,' I tried to contain myself but can't help but let out a stifled laugh. Clutching my belly restraining myself to laugh out loud and avoid being rude or embarrassing him.
"You realize that I can hear you snickering right? So, what's the point of holding it up?" He asked with annoyance. "Just let it out, it's bad for you if you keep on holding it in," he says purposely.
It's like a key to loosen the lock, I burst out laughing. I laugh hard that it made me tear up. It's unusual for me to see that side of him.
My impression of him was a rigid and confident man. I really can't associate him with his current predicament. Man, I'm going to have fun. I mouthed silently with a knowing smile on my face.
