CHAPTER SEVEN Sadie tried not to wince as she watched the nurse stitching Cooper up. The wound, despite the copious bleeding, had thankfully turned out to be superficial. Nothing serious; but it was b****y, and it was going to be sore. Sadie had breathed a sigh of relief when she had realized that the Sheriff wasn’t going to expire on her after all, feeling faintly guilty even though she knew that without her intervention Higgins could have done a lot more damage before Cooper had managed to draw his weapon. This was the second time in just a few days that she and Cooper had ended up in the ER. The nurse that was stitching him up, a pretty redhead who kept giving the Sheriff admiring glances as he sat there with his shirt off, pursed her lips disapprovingly every time she looked at Sadie
