CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Surrounded by snow and twinkling with Christmas lights, the Anchorage mall reminded Sadie of a Christmas movie she had watched with Jessica one year. She couldn’t remember the plot, other than that it had featured a mean Santa Claus impersonator at a mall and a shy elf. Jessica had found it hilarious. The memory made her sad and she shook it off, telling herself to concentrate on the matter at hand.
