The bell rang and I ran out of class heading towards my locker. As my locker came into view I seen Macy standing there waiting for me.
"Hey Macy." I said as I opened up my locker putting my books in then taking my lunch out.
"Hey Trixie!" What are you doing tonight" Macy asked shoving her bag into my locker as I closed it.
"Family game night." I said as we headed for the court yard.
I'm Trixie Snow and Macy Stone is my best friend, I don't know what I'd do without her. Being seventeen I'm about five foot three and am a size six in jeans, so yes I'm skinny but trust me I eat. I have brown wavy hair almost half way down my back and bright green eyes, which pop against my tanned skin.
Macy is my opposite she is a little bigger around a size eight, the same age, she is taller around five foot six. She has dirty blonde hair down to her shoulders and deep brown eyes. She is very pretty for our age.
We made is to the table we always sit at and found Frankie, Max and Dylan. Frankie Valentino is sixteen, she goes through phases of style and right now it was goth, so she had black hair dyed of course and pale blue eyes. Then Max Harrison, eighteen year old quarterback on the football team. He is well built, strong and about six feet tall. He has dirty blonde hair that flips out at the ends and brown eye. Finally Dylan Stone is sixteen and Macy's little brother. He is a sweetheart. He is on the football team and a shoe in for quarterback next year. He has dirty blonde surfer hair and bright blue eyes.
The only one missing is Dakota Richards. He is the rich kid, right now he's on vacation with his parents in Australia. He's seventeen, tall and skinny with brown hair and eyes. Him and Frankie are an item right now.
"Hey sis." Dylan said while munching on a pizza slice. Macy nodded to her brother and sat down on Maxs lap picking up a chocolate cookie.
"Hey babygirl, how's classes?" Max said biting into a sandwich.
"Good I'm so happy today's Friday and it's March break baby!" She yelled the end happily waving her arms wildly in the air.
Frankie looked up from her book and asked "What's everyone doing this week?" Dylan piped up instantly but I was busy watching the area around us, looking at the kids running around playing soccer and talking, you could notice the different social groups. The cheerleaders all wore their uniforms and ponytails. The jocks tossed their sports balls around freely while wearing their jackets, The nerds had books out doing homework or reading. Goths were talking and the rich kids were giggling and laughing sitting in their fancy cars. Our group is a mixture and we don't care what others think.
"Trixie!" Frankie yelled and snapped me out of my bubble.
"Mhmm what?" I asked sipping my homemade smoothie.
"What are you doing this week?" Dylan asked staring at me wide eyed. He was a cute kid, girls always crushed on him.
"Well my cousins are coming over and we are going camping for a few days. Then next Friday I'm having a little birthday thing." I finished grabbing a cookie from Macy and took a big bite before handing it back to her.
"Hey that was my cookie," She said with a frown. "Or at least it was." Macy put the cookie back on the plate.
"Well I'm going to head to Biology now, see you guys later." I said before grabbing my stuff and making my way to the third floor. Class was long and boring but it was ok if you don't remind me of the huge test we have a week after March break!
As I was heading into my next class, art, I heard someone yell my name from the crowded hallways. I didn't see anybody so I went to my seat near the window over looking the garden. Just as I pulled out my sketch book the bell rang and kids started pouring in making the noise level increase.
"Good afternoon class," Mrs. Monet said at the front of the class. She's my favorite teacher, she's not very tall but she is fierce, even the typical class clowns don't mess around in her class. "Your self portraits are due at the end of class so that is what we are working on." Mrs. Monet said walking around the room. Then like a 'ray of sunshine', which is what other people say but I think it is more like a 'ray of hoeness', Lilly Chapman walks in the room late as always. She is the most popular, hateful and spoiled girl at our school.
"Mrs. Monet I have a student council announcement to make!" Lillys pitch perfect voice drives me crazy because seriously how 'perfect' can one girl be. She's skinny, tall, long straight blonde hair and sparkly blue eyes. Everybody turns at the sound of her voice and Mrs. Monet nodded for her to go ahead.
Miss preppy perfect ruffled her fluffy pink skirt and started to speak. "Since I'm graduating this year I guess we are going to need a new president. Although it's unlikely you could be as good as moi," She smirked her eyes catching mine. "We have some information sheets for everybody and if you want to become next years president, fill in the form and give it to me or the office!" She finished with a wicked smile. She passed out the sheets and I shoved mine in my bag.
I raise my hand as all the other kids start pulling out their half done portraits. I raised my hand and Mrs. Monet came over. "May I get my portrait out of my locker?" I asked.
"Of course." She said heading to the next student with their hands raised.
As I walked to my locker I thought I'd at least try for president but it would be unlikely I would ever get chosen. I unlocked my locker, grabbed the portrait and headed back to class.
"Trixie!" Someone yelled from behind me. I spun around to see who yelled at me, it was my brother. Brad graduated four years ago, he's twenty-two now, he's tall and built like a brick wall. He was the quarterback in high school. He has brown hair like me but he has brown eyes where as I have green.
"Brad why are you here?" I asked when he reached me.
Brad smiled and said "I'm just here to pick you up. It's family game night remember?"
I laughed and we headed back to class while we talked. That's when miss hoeness walked out and bumped right into me. I fell right to the floor dropping my portrait.
"Watch where you're going!" She yelled staring at me. I'm guessing she was trying to scare me but honestly it made her look ugly. I tried not to laugh but I couldn't hide the smirk. She whirled around and looked at Brad and her face changed from b***h mode to slut mode instantly.
"Hey! I'm Lilly. What's your name?" Lilly asked moving closer to him and putting her hand on his arm and smiled.
"Brad, and that girl you just ran into my sister." He said pulling away from her to help me.
"Your sister?" But your so nice and handsome where she is rude and ugly. You guys don't look anything alike!" She whined in that high pitched voice that hurts my ears.
Brad puled me up and I grabbed my portrait saying "Well we are so get over it. Bye." I gave my best b***h bye wave. We went into Mrs. Monets room, I passed in my portrait and she told me to go put it on the board. I've always been good at art. As I did as she told me I seen Brad taking to her which made me an easy target for the class clowns who tried to trip me, I dodged their attempts and grabbed my bookbag.
I walked back just as Mrs. Monet handed Brad a book "Thank you Mrs. Monet I'll make sure she reads it."
Mrs. Monet smiled and said "Well get going don't make your mother wait. Have a great March break." She hugged me and we said goodbye.
We left walking side by side down the hallway. Neither of us said a word, the hallways are dark and lack any color or life. We walked out the doors and a rush of cold air hit me. This is the coldest it's gotten and honestly I don't remember the last time it snowed in Everwood. Mom said that it used to snow all winter but it doesn't anymore. We got half way to the car when Brads phone started ringing so he moved to walk ahead some.
I was fine with that, he's older and has always tried to protect me so this was normal. I looked around and see that the clouds were darker then they were this morning and small patches of light where the sun managed to shine through the thick clouds were dwindling. Walking slowly I seen a black jeep pull up and stop in front of Brad. I run and reach the jeep as Taylor Navarra got out. He wore a simple black t-shirt and worn out jeans. Taylor was my brothers best friends since birth. He has eyes that are such a dark blue they look like the night sky. His hair is pure black and about chin length with a slight curl. He was a football player like Brad so they were both well built. Over the years you would think that Taylor would become like a brother to me but that's not what happened.
"Hey Brad!" Taylor said high fiving him. "Hey Trixie, what's up?" He asked as our eyes met and I felt my cheeks getting warm.
I looked away and said "Hi, umm, I got out of school early. I was done everything."
"Lucky girl. Well get in the jeep or we're going to be late." Taylor said jumping into the jeep.
"Come on Brad." I said walking towards the gaping hole that was the passenger side door.
"I'm not going. Jojo needs me to start packing. Taylor is going to drive you home. Can you tell mom I'll be late?" He said running towards his truck. Jojo is Brads fiancée, they dated for two years and they are getting married this summer.
"Fine!" I yelled as I climbed into the seat and bucked up. It was almost winter but Taylor still has the top and doors off. Taylor had the music up and started the hour long journey towards home. Mom and Dad bought a house outside of the small town of Everwood and the highway was the fastest way there. We were on the highway for a while when it started pouring.
"Oh s**t!" Taylor said stopping on the highway. He jumped out and yelled. "Trixie help me put the tarp up!" He tossed me a corner and I attached it to the windshield. I've seen Taylor and Brad do it before so I knew what to do. So in about a minute every opening except the doors were covered.
"thanks. You know your faster at that then your brother." Taylor said laughing as we got back in. Go figure I'm soaked and this is the day I choose to wear a white t-shirt and skinny jeans. I looked at my shirt to see how bad it was. Oh god just like I thought my pink and red bra was defiantly visible.
"Damn it!" I whispered to myself. apparently I wasn't quite enough because Taylor looked at me with his mouth open like he was going to say something but nothing came out. His hair was sticking to his face and his black t-shirt stuck to his chest outlining his abs. Damn why was he so perfect.
"Nice bra Trixie!" Taylor finally said laughing. Not once did he take his eyes off me. The rain shifted directions and was now coming in through the doors which was not helping the wet situation. My jeans started sticking to my legs more too.
"Well are you going to stare at me and let me catch a cold or are you going to drive and get me home?" I asked laughing and blushed. He looked me over once more before starting the jeep. When he was paying attention to the road I was looking at him.
"You know Trixie you're really pretty." Taylor said keeping his eyes on the winding highway.
"Yea you've told me that since I was five Taylor." I said laughing. When I was little he would tell me everyday but it's not so often anymore.
"I only say it because it's true but now that your older I guess I can start saying your beautiful." He glanced at me quickly. "Yup defiantly beautiful."
Blushing I looked at the road. "You're only saying that because my t-shirt is soaked." I laughed punching him in the arm playfully.
"You're asking for it Trix." He laughed using the nickname he gave me as a kid and I'm not a fan. We were laughing. I was staring out the door when he tickled my side and I squealed and tried to move out of his reach.
"Hey that's not fair." I said laughing. Taylor stopped laughing and sighed. "What's wrong?" I asked. The rain had slowed and we were pulling off the highway to get to my house.
Taylor drove slowly and said "It's this girl I like." He sighed. "I don't think she will date me because of my past. But I haven't asked her yet because I'm nervous." He finished just as he pulled into my driveway. He jumped out before I could say anything. My bookbag on his shoulder he walked beside me up the porch steps.
"Bye Trixie. I'm sure I'll see you sometime this week." Taylor set my bookbag down and hugged me tight.
"Bye." Was all I could muster. I loved how he made me feel small and delicate. God I must have been pinker then my little sisters room and she's six, everything in there is pink. He let go and got in his jeep and drove off. I waited a minute for my face to go back to normal before I walked into the house to meet my Mom, Dad, Uncle, sister and cousins.
