Chapter Eleven

Hudson leaned his head against the back of the chair, staring up at the ceiling as the room swirled comfortingly around him. He was so relaxed; he couldn’t even remember why he had been so stressed. Beside him the red head was giggling as she sipped on her drink, nursing it between her two small hands. Glancing over at him, she smiled, ‘you look so much happier’ she murmured, leaning closer to him, and resting her head on his shoulder. ‘I feel great’ Hudson agreed, his voice coming out slurred. ‘I knew you just needed a little pick me up’ the she wolf mumbled, ‘just a little special something to get you out of your funk.’ ‘Yeah’ Hudson breathed, ‘I am having suuuuuch a good time.’ His drinking companion sat up, swaying slightly, ‘want to have more fun?’ she asked, c*****g her head to the side. The Alpha nodded drunkenly, ‘sure’ he agreed, ‘what do you think we should do? Wanna play a game?’ The red head sniggered as she nodded, ‘yeah’ she replied, running her finger down his shirt, teasing his buttons, ‘I want to play hide and seek.’ Laughing manically, Hudson threw his arm over the back of the chair, ‘you want to hide first?’ he asked. She shook her head, ‘nope’ she said, trying to focus on him, ‘I want to hide part of you inside part of me.’ The werewolf frowned, trying to make sense of her words as she lunged forward and pressed her lips to his. Instinctively, he responded, lifting his hand to wrap it in her hair as he groaned. The red head straddled his waist, rocking her hips against him hungrily as he wrapped his other hand around her waist, pulling her against his chest. Their tongues wrestled for dominance, warring against each other. The she wolf’s hands roamed over his chest, tracing his muscular torso as she moaned into his mouth appreciatively. ‘Let’s take this upstairs’ she rumbled huskily, pulling back slightly and meeting his lust filled gaze. ‘OK’ he mumbled as she slid off his lap and entwined her fingers with his, pulling him to his feet. He stumbled after her, allowing the she wolf to lead him through the crowd and up the stairs toward the bedrooms. Inside his head, he was vaguely aware that his wolf was unnaturally silent making him feel like he was missing something. ‘In here’ the red head purred, pulling him into an empty room and shutting the door behind them. Pushing him up against the wall, she ran her hands up his shirt before slowly unbuttoning the buttons one at a time, her lips devouring his. Pushing the fabric down his arms, she threw the shirt onto the floor, squealing when Hudson gripped her waist and spun them around until she was pressed against the wall in his place. ‘Dominant, I like it’ she said with a grin. ‘You have no idea how dominant I can be red’ he growled back, nipping at her lips. Reaching for the hem of her skin tight jumper, Hudson tugs it over her head, dropping it before palming her breasts and lowering his mouth to take in one of her n*****s through her bra. ‘Quinn’ he groaned out in a muffled voice, aware only of the warm body that was wrapped around him, holding him captive against it. The she wolf moaned loudly, her head falling back against the paintwork, whispering encouragingly, ‘yes, oh yes, more.’ Unclasping the black lace, the Alpha dragged it down her arms, before returning to the rosy n*****s that were now free to be devoured. With a feral growl, the red head pushed him away, her face swimming in front of him as he stared at her confused. Guiding him backwards, he staggered as his legs hit the bed, losing his balance and falling spread out on the comforter. Standing between his legs, the she wolf leaned over and flicked the button on his jeans, pulling down the zipper and tugging them down until they were puddled around his ankles. Next to go were his boxers leaving him naked as she grinned with barely concealed excitement, running her fingers over his erection as he shuddered. Losing her skirt, the girl stepped out of her panties, tucking them into the pocket of his jeans with a wink before climbing over him, straddling his waist. ‘You just lie there Alpha’ she murmured, ‘I’m going to make you feel so good, you won’t even want to remember why you were sad earlier.’ Hudson nodded numbly, his eyes trying to close on him, he was already so relaxed, so so relaxed. A tight warmth settled around his c**k making him groan in pleasure. ‘That’s right Alpha, let me take care of you’ the soft voice crooned as the warmth moved against him slowly. ‘OK’ he sighed, his eyes now closed and his body unmoving, ‘mmm, feels nice’ he managed to mutter. ‘Yeah, it’s going to feel so much nicer in a minute’ that same voice replied as the movements picked up forcing a moan from his lips. The very back of his mind was niggling him, telling him that he was wrong to be feeling this pleasure but he didn’t want it to stop. He had felt so worried earlier but he couldn’t remember why and now all he felt was warmth, he didn’t want it to go away. His hips started to move of their own accord, searching out the softness that was caressing him, the tight warmth meeting his movements greedily. He could feel something building, his body chasing it until he growled out as he flooded the heat that held him. ‘That was so good’ he mumbled, rolling onto his side as the heat went away, leaving him alone. The bed moved beside him as a weight fell onto the mattress, he didn’t pay any attention though, his body already succumbing to the darkness that was pulling him under. ***************************************** Hudson buried his face into the blankets on his bed, trying to block out the light that was trying to pierce through his eyelids. ‘Tilly, stop pointing that torch in my eyes’ he mumbled, waving a hand into the empty air in front of him. There was no reply to his words, which was odd. Tilly always laughed when he grumbled at her. Peeling open an eye, he frowned at the patchwork blanket that was draped over him. He didn’t have a patchwork blanket, let alone one that was muted pastel colours. Forcing both eyes open, he glanced around the room, it looked vaguely familiar, mahogany furniture . . he definitely didn’t have mahogany furniture in his room. Peeking to his right, his stomach tightened at the mass of red curls on the pillow next to him. Swallowing the fear, he leaned over to find the face of the girl from the night before, the one who had drunk vodka with him, passed out beside him. Slipping out of the bed, he groaned as he found himself naked, glancing around the room at the discarded clothes, he could guarantee he wasn’t the only one. Moving silently, he pulled on his clothes, picking up his shoes and hurrying out the door, shutting it behind him as fear clawed at him. This was too similar, everything this week was just like his dream . . did that mean . . ‘Have fun?’ came a voice behind him, making him jump ‘I know I did.’ Ignoring him, Hudson pulled on his trainers before heading for the stairs, taking them two at a time. ‘What’s your rush?’ Garrett asked, hot on his heels. ‘We need to get back to the pack’ the young Alpha replied, a deep sense of dread washing over him, ‘I . . I have a bad feeling.’ Rushing to his truck, he threw open the door, sliding in behind the wheel and starting the engine. Throwing it into gear, he didn’t even wait for Garrett to shut his door before he was tearing out of the Alpha’s drive and heading toward the border. ‘What the hell?’ the Beta shouted as he reached for his seatbelt, buckling it securely and holding on to the hand rail above his head as they skidded around the corners, crossing out of Clover pack territory at speed. Covering the distance between the two packs, Hudson felt his heart still when no wolves stepped out as they crossed their own borders. ‘Where are the guards?’ Garrett asked, concern lacing his words as he glanced through the windows looking for the tell tale sign that they were being watched. Hudson didn’t answer, just pressed his foot further to the floor, opening his mind link and calling out to his father. ‘Answer me’ he growled under his breath, feeling his wolf stir, whimpering in his mind. ‘Hudson! Hurry! the pack is under attack’ came his father’s voice breaking into his mind causing Harvey to shake off the drowsiness that was still surrounding him, snarling in Hudson’s head. Slamming on the breaks, the warrior was out of the truck, shifting into Harvey and heading for the surrounding woods, not even looking back to make sure his Beta was with him. Crashing through the trees, he broke out of the forest to the scene from his dream. Dead and dying wolves covered the ground, the living stampeding over them as they continued to fight with everything they had. Forcing his way into the fray, Hudson ripped apart every enemy wolf he could find, not stopping until he heard the howl of his best friend. Spinning back, he already knew what he was going to see, Garrett’s father’s mutilated body. ‘Garrett, don’t!’ he shouted through the mind link, even though he knew it was too late, his friend had already seen the body. With a snarl, Garrett threw himself at the nearest unknown wolf, sinking his teeth into the other fighter’s skin, drawing blood. A wolf launched at him whilst he was distracted, knocking the Alpha down, trying to reach his neck. In reflex, Hudson kicked him off, sending him flying toward the wood as another took his place, ripping at his side. Rolling out of the way, Hudson ducked, narrowly missing the claws that were aimed for his exposed face. Beside him, he heard a whimper of pain, his gaze flicking over, he felt his blood run cold when he realised that Garrett was underneath four enemy wolves, all of which were biting and clawing at him. Howling in fury, Hudson tried to reach his Beta but three further wolves cut him off, advancing on him with a predatory look. Launching at them, the Alpha bit down on the first as his claws sliced through the second, drawing blood. The third managed to get his teeth into Hudson’s ear, biting down and ripping it out. Kicking out, Hudson sent the third wolf skidding across the muddy grass, giving himself a few seconds reprieve that he used to rip out the second wolf’s throat as he lay on the ground, deep gashes in his side. The first wolf advanced again, snarling at him, the third back on his feet and jumping onto his back. Dropping to the floor, Hudson allowed the third wolf to fly over him, straight into his advancing comrade. Jumping up, he launched himself after the pair, landing on top of them and pinning them both underneath his weight. Elongating his claws, he ripped into the third wolf, shredding his flesh from his bones until he stopped screaming from the pain. Pulling him out of the way, he glowered down at the first wolf who was trying to breathe through what looked like broken ribs from the weight of his friend and the Alpha on his chest. Not waiting, Hudson gripped his throat in his teeth and pulled, spitting out the lump of flesh in disgust before turning toward his best friend. A whimper left him as he raced over, dropping down beside the abandoned body of the teenager who had been by his side for his entire life. Claw and teeth marks littered his body which had shifted back into his human form, his eyes glassy and unseeing. Letting out a howl of anguish, Hudson felt rage wash over him as he turned on the fighting werewolves, his only desire was to make all of the wolves that had invaded his territory pay. Pouncing into the next fight, his world became nothing but flesh and pain as he slaughtered wolf after wolf, allowing no mercy. A low growl drew his attention as he neared the packhouse, a huge black wolf glowering at him menacingly. ‘Alpha’ Harvey snarls, turning to face him expectantly as he scents the other wolf’s aura. Hudson’s anger spiked, was this the wolf that had led his pack into a war? The wolf responsible for his friend’s death? The two wolves stare at each other for a second before they launch toward each other at the same time, crashing together in a ball of teeth and claws. Hudson snarls as he feels his side slice open, the other Alpha wolf growling angrily as his muzzle is slashed viciously. Rolling around, the pair are evenly matched, Hudson biting down on the other’s shoulder then receiving a bite to his hind leg that removes a section of flesh. As they battle between them, both seemingly fueled with rage, Hudson manages to roll the black wolf onto his back. Smirking widely, he lifts his paw to s***h the other wolf’s throat when a scream rips through the air and a blur of skin flashes before his eyes just as his claws come down in an arc. He feels his body getting thrown backwards before a man’s voice roars, ‘NO!’ and Hudson was staring down at the same black haired man from his dream, cradling Quinn’s body as she gurgled through the blood that was pouring out of the cut across her throat. ‘Why did you do that? Why did you get in the way? You were supposed to stay safe, stay behind?’ the man was yelling at her, rocking her body against his naked chest. Out of the corner of his eye, Hudson saw the moment his father’s head was removed from his body by another, bigger wolf than the one in front of him, but his mind wouldn’t compute it. All he could focus on was his mate’s body in front of him as she gasped her last breath, her head rolling to the side. ‘No Quinny No, don’t leave me!’ the werewolf howled in grief, his gaze glancing around desperately before falling on the young Alpha who was standing silently in front of him staring at the she wolf in his arms. ‘You’ he growled suddenly, laying Quinn’s body down gently on the grass, ‘you’re the one, the wolf who broke her heart! She felt it you know, when you were with your w***e last night.’ Hudson nodded blindly, swallowing the lump in his throat as the other wolf ranted at him even though he could no longer hear his words. Just like his dream, his mate and pack were dead, he hadn’t been able to save them. ‘You will die’ the other Alpha snarled, advancing on him. Hudson just dropped to his knees, keeping silent, not raising a hand as the claws of his opponent sliced through his neck. The pain was just as he remembered it, the feel of the blood running down his chest exactly the same. As he slumped to the ground, he stared unblinkingly at Quinn’s body, his fingers crawling across the grass toward her as death took him from the earth.
