Cloette’s POV: The sky rumbles, booming in fury. The lightning flashes, streaking overhead. My heart races against my feet, splashing through wide and muddy puddles. The pelting raindrops persistently cascade on my skin and the gusty wind shivers the hell out of me. I have nothing but my bag to shield me from the rain. Around me are grass and an unpaved slippery road. Way before I could conceal myself underneath the nearest mango tree, an almost inaudible vrooming of a motor vibrates from behind. When I turn around, relief gashes through me. A three-wheeled vehicle is rushing in my direction. I drop my bag and wave my arms, expecting the driver to see me. But instead of offering me a ride, it offers me more splashes of dirty water from the puddles when it steers past me. Irritation crawls
