I froze.
For a second, I couldn’t even breathe properly.
My heart was pounding so loudly it drowned everything else out, every instinct screaming at me to move, to run, to do something—but my body wouldn’t cooperate.
Because I wasn’t imagining it this time.
Someone was there.
Standing just inside the doorway behind me.
Not rushing forward. Not speaking. Just… there. Watching.
The same way I’d just seen myself being watched.
Slowly, I turned. Every movement careful, controlled, like moving too fast would make whatever this was worse.

Nothing about him stood out.
