PHOEBE POV
The moment I reached the guest bedroom, I threw myself against the mattress, grabbed a pillow, and buried my face straight into it.
I was so angry my chest hurt, but what pissed me off the most was why I was angry.
I sat up straight and slapped my own cheek. Hard.
"What the f**k is wrong with you, Phoebe?" I whispered fiercely to myself. "Why the f**k do you care?!"
I slapped my other cheek, trying to knock some damn sense into my head. He was a dangerous criminal who was keeping me locked up here. I should be thinking about how to get out,. I shouldn't give a single s**t about who he brought home.
I hated him. But right now, I hate myself so much more.
I flopped onto my back and closed my eyes, trying everything to fall asleep. But It didn't work. My brain was spinning out of control.
I grabbed my phone from the nightstand, opened a random game, and started tapping frantically on the screen. Two minutes in, I lost interest and slammed the app shut.
Next, I opened a drama app, looking for anything to distract me. I picked a random show and hit play. But five minutes into the episode, the main characters suddenly pushed each other against a wall. The male lead grabbed the girl, kissing her deeply, rough hands squeezing her waist and pulling her body tight against his.
My mind instantly flew straight to Kingsley.
I pictured those dark gray eyes, those big, tattooed hands, and those broad shoulders hovering over the woman he brought home. Was he holding her like that right now? Was he kissing her with that same ruthless intensity?
"Stop it!" I yelled under my breath, bringing my hand back to slap my face again to snap out of it.
SLAP!
Sadly I hit myself way too hard and it was so painful, A sharp, stinging shock exploded across my jaw, and the sudden pain finally broke me. I burst into tears, dropping the phone onto the bed and burying my burning face into the pillow, letting out all the angry, humiliated sobs I had been choking back.
After a few minutes, the crying slowed down into soft hiccups. I pulled the heavy blanket up to my chin, determined to finally close my eyes.
But sadly, That was when the sounds started.
At first, it was just a low, rhythmic thud against the wall down the hall. I tried to ignore it. I pressed the pillow tight over my ears. But as the minutes ticked by, the noises only got louder.
The bed frame began to creak violently. Then came the gasps. The loud, breathless moans. The dirty, shameless words echoing through the hallway.
My eyes snapped open, my jaw clenching so tight my teeth ached.
"Are you f*****g serious right now?" I hissed into the empty room.
My pulse hammered against my throat in pure, unadulterated rage. I threw the blanket off my body and glared at the closed door.
"Even if it's your house," I ranted to the air, my voice trembling with anger, "and you can tear up whatever p***y you want, at least let me f*****g get some sleep! Or take me back to where you picked me up!"
I kept cursing them under my breath, but my voice was completely lost. Down the hall, the woman let out another loud, dramatic moan that carried straight through the heavy walls.
That was the absolute last straw.
I kicked the sheet completely off my legs and swung my feet over the edge of the bed. I didn't care that he was a dangerous assassin who could end me with one hand.
I marched across the room, grabbed the doorknob, and yanked the door open, heading straight down the dark hallway to tell them to keep their f*****g mouths shut.
I walked down the dark hallway, my bare feet hitting the cold floor as my blood boiled. I had planned to just knock on the wall, but as I got closer to the room, the voices through the half-open door became loud and clear.
I stopped right in front of the door, my breath catching in my throat.
“Shut the f**k up Trixie”
"f**k, Kingsley—ah!" Trixie’s voice came out in a desperate gasp. "Slow down! You're... you're going to split me in half!"
"I said Shut up," Kingsley growled. His voice was low, terrifying, and heavy with effort as the bed frame slammed hard against the wall. "Take it."
"You're f*****g me like you hate me!" she cried out, her voice mixing pain with pleasure. "If you want the p***y of that little b***h down the hall so bad, just go take her! Don't kill me instead!"
My heart hammered against my ribs. That little b***h?
Before I could process what she said, Kingsley let out a low curse, followed by a heavy slap of skin against skin.
"f*****g useless," Kingsley gritted out, his breathing hard and fast. "Say her name again. Say it."
"No!" Trixie protested, but a hard spank echoed through the room as his hand hit her ass.
"Say it, you slut," he growled. "That's your job."
"Phoebe!" Trixie whimpered, her voice breaking into a loud moan. "You're thinking of Phoebe—f**k!"
"Phoebe..." Kingsley muttered my name like a dark command, his low voice dripping with raw possession. "Tight little..."
A sudden wave of heat shot straight down between my legs. My chest heaved, and my n*****s went tight and hard against the thin cotton of his shirt. My c**t throbbed so hard it nearly made me gasp. If I get this right, He wasn't just using another woman to forget me—he was f*****g her while calling out my name in the dark.
My mind went completely blank. Without even thinking, my hand moved on its own.
KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.
The heavy sound echoed through the quiet hallway.
The bed springs stopped instantly. The silence in the room was suffocating. Instant regret washed over me, but before I could turn around and run back to my room, the door pulled wide open.
Trixie stood there, breathing heavy, covered in sweat with messed-up makeup. She was completely naked, glaring at me with pure hatred.
"The little b***h you crave just found her way to the door," Trixie rasped, stepping aside without a care.
Kingsley stepped into view right behind her. A white towel was wrapped low around his hips, his broad, tattooed chest shining with sweat, his jaw locked tight. He looked down at me from head to toe, his gray eyes completely cold and flat—as if I were nothing more than an annoying distraction.
"What the f**k are you doing here?" Kingsley asked, his voice calm and unbothered.
His total lack of reaction—the way he put on that straight face and tried to make me feel small and weak—sent a fresh wave of anger straight to my brain. The shame vanished. The embarrassment turned into pure fire.
I raised my chin, looked right into his cold gray eyes, and let out a bitter laugh.
"What am I doing here?" I choked out, stepping closer. "You're the one f*****g echoing my name across the entire building."
