PHOEBE POV The bed bounced under me as I hit the soft sheets. Before I could even catch my breath or cover my bare legs with the oversized shirt, Kingsley was already on top of me. He moved like a predator, his broad frame completely blocking out the light. He pinned both of my wrists above my head with one hand, his grip solid as iron. "Kingsley..." I panted, my chest rising and falling fast. "Still got something to say?" he asked softly, his voice dangerously quiet. He didn't wait for a reply. Kingsley reached down with his free hand, grabbed the middle of my shirt, and ripped it wide open with one hard tug. Buttons popped and rolled across the floorboards. Cool air hit my bare chest, making my n*****s harden into tight peaks right away. His eyes turned dark as he looked down at my body. He leaned down and took one peak straight into his mouth, sucking hard. A sharp gasp burst out of my throat. My back arched off the bed as a wave of heat shot straight down between my legs. Kingsley let go of my wrists. He slid his hot palm down my flat stomach until his fingers reached the edge of my simple cotton panties. He hooked his thumb into the fabric and ripped them right off my hips, throwing the torn cloth onto the floor. I tried to press my thighs together out of instinct, but Kingsley shoved his knee right between my legs, forcing them wide open. Without warning, he slid two long fingers straight into my wet core. The second he pushed inside, my whole body froze. A sudden tightness washed over me, every muscle down there locking up completely. It was a sharp, strange feeling that made my breath catch in my throat. I squeezed my eyes shut, my feet digging into the sheets as I stiffened up under him. Kingsley stopped right away. His hand went totally still. The silence in the room became heavy and dead quiet. Slowly, Kingsley pulled his fingers out and rested his palm against my inner thigh. He leaned up, his eyes narrowing as he stared down at my tight face and my shaking lips. "Are you a virgin?" he asked flatly, his voice cold and plain. I looked into his eyes, my throat completely dry. I couldn't speak, so I just gave him a slow nod. Kingsley let out a dark, low curse. He pulled his body off mine completely, stepping back so fast that the sudden loss of his heat felt like cold water on my skin. He stood by the bed, his chest rising and falling fast, looking down at me like everything had just gone completely wrong. "Get up and put some clothes on," Kingsley said coldly, his face turning total blank. "Kingsley—" "Cover yourself up, Phoebe," he cut me off, pointing right at the torn shirt. "You're going to regret this as soon as morning comes, and I'm not dealing with your tears." Before I could process what he said, or even open my mouth to call him back, Kingsley turned around, grabbed a pair of sweatpants off the chair, and walked straight out of the room, slamming the door shut behind him. I lay there on his huge bed, completely bare, shivering from the cold air coming through the open window. . The smell of his cologne still filled the room, making my chest hurt. I looked down at myself. The ripped shirt hung off my arms, and my torn underwear sat on the floor like trash. My whole face burned with a wave of shame so strong I could barely breathe. I pulled my knees up and buried my face against them. A hot tear ran down my cheek. I didn't even know why I was crying. Was I sad because he stopped? Or because I had practically begged him, only to get pushed aside? "You i***t," I whispered, my voice breaking. I forced myself to sit up. My whole body felt heavy, but anger was slowly taking over the embarrassment. He was right about one thing—morning was coming, and I might actually regret this. I swung my legs off the bed and stood up. Holding the ruined shirt over my chest, I stepped around the buttons on the floor. I went back to the guest room, and the moment I got inside, I didn't waste any time. I pulled off the ruined shirt, picked up my clothes alongside my library tag, and put them on fast. I wiped my face with the back of my hand. I honestly didn't care that it was the middle of the night—I just needed to get as far away from Kingsley as I could. I grabbed my phone, slid it into my pocket, and opened the guest room door. I walked down the quiet stairs, trying to stay low. I wasn't sneaking around because I lacked the confidence to walk out freely, but because I just wanted to leave without another scene. Thankfully, he didn't seem to be anywhere near the hallway, even though my heart was still pounding in my chest with every step. The front door was right in front of me. I reached out, my trembling fingers wrapping around the handle. "Where the f**k do you think you're going?" a cold, rough voice called out from the dark living room.
