Chapter 3: A Trip To The Dark Past.

784 Words
"I had never felt so confused in my entire life. Though I seriously wanted to understand and make sense of what was going on. This might be my head playing tricks on me, or maybe all of this is real. I was torn between two conflicting thoughts – part of me wanted to believe, while the other part didn't want to go insane. As I contemplated, I lost myself deep inside my head. My consciousness slowly and gently blew away with the wind into the shadows. My vision suddenly became blurred for a while, as if I were sick or falling asleep. I became very dizzy." "As I slowly regained my vision, all I could see was a mist enveloping everything around me." "I could have sworn I was at the forest a while ago. What is happening to me?" I stumbled through the fog, then found myself standing in the village square, but everything looked different. A lot of people were standing and chatting; some were whispering, while some men at the middle of the gathering were screaming very loudly. Everyone was standing in a circle: both women and men, including children. I had no idea what was going on. "What is happening here?" I asked. But no one replied; they all seemed very focused on the event. I tried to touch one of them, but I couldn't feel my hands touching anyone, like I was a wind or something. "I walked closer into the middle of the gathering; I saw a Lady pleading for mercy. As I walked closer, I could not believe my eyes. Looking at her, I felt like I was looking at a goddess. Her eyes were like the sun, her skin like water. She was the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. I felt uncontrollably drawn to her. She stared into my eyes, looking right into my soul as if she could see me. I became more confused than I was before. 'Please stop, I love her, she is innocent, please!!' A familiar voice spoke behind me. I turned around to see who he was, but to my surprise, I was looking at myself. Yes, right there, I was looking at myself. Suddenly, I felt a strange feeling of deja vu. Everything then slowly became familiar. I stood there, shocked and frozen. 'She is not innocent; she is a witch!' the whole crowd screamed." "I stood there and watched as the events unfolded. The gentleman who looked exactly like me was pleading so hard for her, but the village elders had an unforgiving glare. The air was thick with tension as the villagers muttered accusations. I stood there, wondering what she must have done wrong. All I heard were cries to punish her, calling her a witch, and demanding her death. The village king sat quietly, his brow furrowed, as the elders whispered in his ear." "Witch! Witch! Kill her! Kill her! Punish her!" The whole crowd screamed. "Quiet!" I said "Quiet!" The king finally spoke, and everyone immediately became calm and silent. "Young lady, do you know why you are here?" the king asked, breaking the silence. "The great head of the gods, may you live long. I have done nothing, I don't know why I am here. Please, I am innocent," she pleaded. As she trembled before the king and the elders, a tense hush fell over the crowd. The king's eyes held a mix of contemplation and suspicion as he observed her. After a moment of silence, he spoke in a solemn tone, "My child, the accusations against you are grave. The people of this village claim you have practiced dark magic and brought misfortune upon our lands." The the young woman eyes widened in shock and fear. "Your Majesty, I swear by the gods, I am but a humble herbalist. I would never dabble in such wickedness," she pleaded, her voice trembling with emotion. The king's expression softened slightly as he regarded her. "We will conduct a trial to determine the truth of these accusations. If you are truly innocent, the gods will protect you. But if you are found guilty, the punishment will be severe." The villagers murmured amongst themselves, some nodding in agreement with the king's decision while others cast suspicious glances at the young woman. The tension in the air was thick, laced with uncertainty and fear. As the trial loomed ahead, she clutched her heart with uncertainty, unsure of what the future held for her in this harsh and unforgiving world. I was still standing there, filled with wonder. I wanted to know more about the accusations. In the blink of an eye, I saw myself standing somewhere else.
