Brian stared out the office window- in a terrible mood.
He's showed up to work yesterday, excited to see Beatrice, wanting to tell her that he was going to break off his engagement. Then when he arrived, it was to find Emma waiting for him with a note in hand.
It was a letter of resignation- Beatrice had resigned.
"She just gave you this? When?" Brian asked.
"Early this morning." Emma said simply.
"And you just let her leave?" Brian asked angrily.
"What was I supposed to do? Brian, I wasn't expecting this either. Here." Emma said, leaving the room.
