CHAPTER 8

It was during lunch time and Ruby was stuffing herself with a pepperoni pizza she had delivered to her office earlier. She couldn't join her friends for lunch since she had an important speech to write. She was supposed to leave the country that weekend since she had been invited to a very important seminar earlier that week. She was so tired and this position was driving her mad. She still had a full semester left and a month before she finishes her studies and get rid of this position and school at the same time. There was a slight knock on her door before the door opened, she wasn't surprised to see her guest. He smiled at her and she found herself reciprocating. She couldn't stay mad at him forever, it's not like it was his fault.

'What are you doing here?' Ruby asked Harvey.

'I couldn't find you in the cafeteria so i came here with food,' Harvey replied waving a lunch box to her.

'What did you bring?' she asked as he sat opposite her.

'Open and have a look,' he said putting down the lunch box at her desk.

Ruby took it and opened it. She smiled as she noticed the pie slice perfectly packed in the lunch.

'I have been craving this the whole day, thanks,' she said and dug in with her fork.

'I'm glad that you do. So what's keeping you here instead of joining others?' he asked her.

'I am supposed to deliver a speech on Saturday and i am left with just a day, so i need it to be perfect,' she told him.

'Are you going somewhere?' he asked her, his voice full of concern.

'Yes, i am. I have been invited to attend the annual youth leadership summit,' she said with a smile. She haven't told him about the summit, she didn't want to cause a ruckus.

'Wow, that's so sudden. I had no idea,' he said and she could hear his hurt but there was nothing she could do about it, 'it's good sis. Congratulations.'

'I am sorry i didn't tell you about it earlier. I just got the invitation this morning,' she told him.

'I am happy for you though.'

'Thanks.'

'Ruby...umm, we need to talk about yesterday,' Harvey said and she put down her fork.

'I am full,' she said and drank her juice.

'You are not going to avoid this at all Ruby. We need to talk about it,' Harvey said and she looked at him.

'This isn't the right time Harvey. As much as i would like to hear from you, i need to finish writing my speech without any interference. Let's talk about this at home,' she said sounding pissed at him.

'Fine, let's do it then. I am sorry about everything babe. What time will you get home?'

'Around seven,' she answered.

'Okay, i will wait for you at home then. Take care of yourself,' he said.

'I will do that,' she said putting a smile on her face.

Harvey stood up, looked at her for a while. She could see the battle he was fighting within but that didn't matter at that time at all. She just wanted to be left alone and seeing Harvey was going to make things worse.

Harvey walked towards her, leaned in and gave her a peck on her cheek.

'I love you,' he said gazing deep into her eyes. She felt all the love flowing in her.

'I love you too,' she responded and she saw that he looked at ease.

Ruby watched as Harvey left and it felt as if her heart was being torn apart from her body. She wanted to embrace her but she has to wait. She closed her pizza box and returned to her desk where she began to continue typing her speech. She had so many things to attach into her speech. She wasn't going to make a fool of herself internationally and ruin her family and herself. She wasn't going to let the school down or her family who had so much faith in her.

Harvey was in his room reading his book and trying to forget that Ruby had been distant after the announcement the previous day. She was still not yet back home and he missed her. He checked his watch again and the clock ticked seven. He closed the book and left his room. When he arrived downstairs he saw the headlights and knew that Ruby had arrived home. She parked her car in the front and got out. Harvey helped her with her bags before the butler drove the car to the garage.

'I thought you weren't coming,' he said a little depressed as they took the staircase upstairs.

'If i don't return back to you, where will i go?' she asked and they both stopped and looked at each other.

Ruby smiled at Harvey as she saw how dumbstruck he was.

'You make me crazy baby girl. It's advisable for us to go upstairs now before i do something that will get us in trouble,' he hissed under his breath.

'That is a good idea. Where is mother and father?'

'They left an hour ago but they will be back tonight,' Harvey answered her.

'Sure.'

Harvey escorted Ruby to her room. He could tell that she was tired so he went to the bathroom where he drew her a bath before returning to the bedroom where Ruby had thrown herself on the bed.

Harvey knelt down on the floor and began to remove the heels she was wearing. She sat up and looked at him.

'You need to take a bath, dinner will be served as soon as you are done,' he said and she smiled at him.

Harvey stood up and helped her up.

'I am too lazy, can you help me?' Ruby asked politely.

'I won't say no to that,' he said grinning.

How could he turn down such a great chance? It was very hard undressing her clothes. He took off one layer after another exposing her skin to him. Damn, she was a beauty and he just wanted to devour and ravish her right there but that wasn't the time.

He scooped her up and carried her gently to the tub where he slid her in the bubble bath.

Harvey took the scrub and began to wash her. He just wanted her to laze around while he does the work. When he was young, he used to do this for her and now they were older and more intimate.

'How was your day?' he asked.

'Exhausting, i just want to sleep,' she answered weakly.

'I will give you a massage before you go to bed,' he promised her.

'Thanks,' she said and closed her eyes.

Harvey did most of the work as she bad eyes closed. He woke her up when she was done. She stood up and he wrapped her with a towel and carried her out of the tub. She was as light as a feather, he wondered if she was eating enough food.

'What's on your mind?' she asked him as he wiped her body.

'Nothing much, I'm just thinking of what i will do if you leave me one day,' he said sadly.

'I will never leave you, you should know that,' she said and hugged him.

'You should know that too. I have no feelings for Janet. You are the only woman i have ever loved and still love. I will never leave you,' he said removing her wet hair from her face.

'I'm just scared Harvey. What we have here, between us, it's dangerous and unacceptable. It will  be hard for people to understand us or accept us. One way or the other, we still have to face our problem and deal with it. I don't want to see my mother hurting especially because of me,' Ruby confessed and she felt so depressed thinking about it.

'I do understand babe but you aren't alone. We have each other and we will overcome whatever comes our way. So can you trust me one more time, please?'

'I trust you Harvey. Let's do that together,' she whispered and he glittered.

'Girl, i just love you,' he hissed and hugged her so close and looked at her. He wanted her and he could see the desire in her eyes too.

She tiptoed since she was shorter than him and kissed him. He closed his eyes, taking in everything she was giving him. He wrapped tightly his arms around her and returned the kiss with more force. He wanted to devour her, leave hickeys that showed everyone that she was his. He lifted her up, wrapped her legs around him as their kiss continued  he carried her into the bedroom where he put her down gently on the bed. He didn't have any time for foreplay. It's been too damn long and he wanted her so bad. He slid down his pants, freed his bulging shaft and positioned himself at her entrance. She was already wet and ready for him. Harvey went to the bathroom where he cleaned himself before returning to bedroom where he wiped her clean and helped her put on some body lotion.

It was funny being like this after making love. She put on some huge t-shirt and shorts since it was already late. The two of them left the bedroom and took the stairs down to the dining room.

The maids set the table for them and served the food. Since they were just alone, they had a quiet dinner. After dinner the two retired to the lounge where they cuddled on the couch as they watched the news.

About an hour later the two were having hot chocolate when the elders returned home. They found them cuddling and they weren't surprised. This was how these two were like and they were used to that. 

'I just wish that my kids will grow up one day. How are they going to marry and separate if they stay like that all day and night long?' Henry asked as he looked at Harvey and Ruby.

'Remember when she wanted to move out. We stopped her and kept her here. You know those two. Leave them alone,' Grace told her husband and the two children turned to them.

'Good evening!' both Harvey and Ruby said at the same time.

'Good evening to you two. Did you have dinner?' Grace asked them.

'Yes we did. How was your appointment?' Harvey asked.

'It was fine, we are just tired. We will go ahead to sleep now,' Grace answered.

'I am leaving tomorrow for the youth summit to Mereen. Received the invitation today and i couldn't decline it,' Ruby told her parents and they looked happily at her.

'I nearly forgot, your Chancellor called and told us. We are very proud of you baby girl. Go and make us proud,' Grace said as she kissed her on her cheek.

'Thanks mom.'

'Is there anything you want for the trip?' Henry asked her with a gentle smile on his face.

'I have everything that i need,' she answered him.

'Good. If there is anything you want after you are there don't hesitate to call. I wouldn't want my baby girl to suffer out there,' Henry cheerfully said and Ruby smiled at the man who had given her a home and so much love in her life.

'I won't hesitate to tell you dad,' Ruby assured him.

'That's my girl. Goodnight kids,' Henry said said.

'Goodnight!' Ruby and Harvey said to their parents.

Henry and Grace left for their bedroom leaving the kids to their TV shows. 

'How about we go to bed too?' Harvey asked Ruby who seemed to be sleepy now.

'You don't want to watch anymore?' Ruby asked.

'No, you have a long journey tomorrow. Let's go to bed,' Harvey said as he stood up.

'Okay.'

The two went upstairs but when Ruby learnt what her brother was up to she stopped him.

'We can't share a room,' she protested but he chuckled.

'Yes we can. This isn't new, besides i am going to miss you so much and i don't want to part with you,' he confessed and she calmed down.

The two of them crawled into the bed. Ruby borrowed Harvey's shoulder and tried to sleep but she didn't get to. 

Harvey was being naughty again, no wonder why he wanted to sleep with her in the same room. As if Harvey was a magician, all their clothes were on the floor and the two were panting from all the heavy kissing and foreplay.

Ruby woke up only to find that she was alone. Her body was sore all over after all the love making till dawn but she didn't mind. She checked her watch and noticed that it was time for her to wake up already. It was going to be a long day but it was all worth it, she just hoped that when she returns they will be less drama.
