~Amelia
“I am sorry but...” the Physician let out a sigh. Amelia arched her brows as she wondered what he was about to say this time. She hoped and prayed the result would not be negative like always.
“What does it say this time?” She leaned forward as she was anxious.
“It is still negative. You aren’t pregnant” He spoke with pity in his eyes. Maxwell was lost for words as he looked at Amelia as though he was disappointed in himself. Well, he didn’t feel that way alone. She was disappointed in him as well. That had been the only reason why Mother wanted them together.
It had been three months since the union had happened yet her mother’s motive could not be achieved. Amelia could imagine the shock and disappointment on her mother’s face when she found out it was negative again.
“If you both will excuse me, I will have to leave right now” The physician stood up and took his leave. This was the umpteenth time Amelia had taken the test to check if she was pregnant and again, it had returned to be negative. Maxwell had forcefully made them get the physician at that time of the evening as he believed she had taken in since he claimed she had begun to change physically. Now, his expectations were dashed.
“I am sorry, I....” Maxwell tried to say something but the moment she turned to look at him, he kept mute. Elizabeth would be so disappointed and Amelia knew she had to do everything within her to make her mother happy. Without thinking twice, she made her way into their room, got dressed, and stormed out of the house to a bar. Staying in there would only make her feel sick and weak.
Finding the bar was not so difficult for Amelia as that wasn’t the first time she was going there. The loud music blasted from the speakers as she found her way inside. The faint sounds of shoes hitting the floor as they danced in unison with the music that playing in the bar pierced her hearing. Frustrated, Amelia got into the bar, wanting to drink away her sorrow but no sooner had she gotten into the bar when a young man approached her, a smile etched to his face.
“What is a beautiful woman like you doing here?” He questioned a weird smile etched on his face. Somehow, he looked familiar but she was too distraught to try to figure out where she had seen him. Amelia shook her head as she ignored him. Of course, he was attractive and pleasing to the eyes but he was indeed one of those men who would want to have a taste of every woman they see or meet and she wasn’t one of them.
“Talk to me. I could be of help to you, you know?” He spoke again but she was quiet as she called on to one of the bartenders to serve her a drink.
“I will pay for her drink” With a grin etched to his face, he made his intention known to the bartender.
“Thanks, but no, thanks. I can handle the bills myself” Adamantly, Amelia refused and squeezed her face into a ball of frown. She did not want to be disturbed by any stranger whatsoever.
“Come on, beautiful. It is just a harmless favor” He offered. Amelia took a shot of the drink, trying to not be distracted by him. He stood by, talking continuously even as she continued to gulp down some liquor. She had begun to lose my senses and the sight of him had begun to drift away slowly in her eyes like trees viewed outside a window. Something just did not seem right.
“You have had enough. Do you want to drink yourself to a stupor?” He questioned, holding onto her hand. Amelia knew she had drunk too much but the pain just seemed to intensify. She did not have a choice anyway.
“I want a child” Amelia answered as he questioned her for the umpteenth time. Even though she wasn’t in my right senses. Somehow, she felt he could be of help to her. Her eyes suddenly became teary as she was deeply hurt. She looked at the stranger who looked at her with compassion and pity.
“My mother wants a child. She wants an heir yet I cannot give her one. I cannot make her happy. That is the one thing she wants from me but I cannot give it to her” Amelia sighed as she tried to take another shot but the stranger was quick to take it away from her.
She tried to fight back as she wondered why he would stop her but he was suddenly hacked into oblivion. She fluttered her eyes open a couple of hours later to see herself in a room. Amelia let out a sigh and shut her eyes back but then she fluttered it open again as the image she had seen the first time she opened it hit her.
Although her head was banging and threatening to fall off, she still found the strength to sit up as she wondered where she was and it was at that moment that her brain picked it up as the memories of what had happened began to replay in her head. The room was not so small but not so big either. It smelt of lavender and so did the sheets.
The reflection of the early morning sun did justice to the lighting of the room cause if not for it, the room would be void of lights.
“Please, be a dream” She prayed within herself as she took off the thin sheets that covered her. Unfortunately, it wasn’t. Amelia closed her eyes and opened it again to be sure she was not dreaming and no, she wasn’t. Burying her head in my palms, Amelia could not help but feel disappointed in herself for letting such happen.
“Hey,” A voice suddenly called out to her. the voice sounded so familiar. Looking up to see who it was, Amelia realized the face seemed way too familiar. The young man had a smile on his face as he approached her, his hands crossed behind him. He was the same guy she had met at the club last night. She turned to look outside to determine what time of the day it was and it was... morning!
“What did you do to me?” Gritting her teeth, she questioned, her eyes shooting daggers as she wished she could tear him apart.
“What you asked to be done” He answered almost immediately as he sat by her side. Unlike her, he was fully dressed.
“Did you....” She tilted my head and squinted her eyes as she did not want to complete the sentence. Like a puppet, he nodded in agreement. Letting out a scream, Amelia stood up and got dressed before running out of the place and headed to Maxwell’s house instead. Oh no! What have she done to me? Now, things had gotten even more complicated.
