Officer Barry Green had a bad day, as he became an international news headline regarding two breaking news stories. The New York Times ran the story about Stop and Frisk and police harassment. Liz Martinez’s story became one of the top stories around the country. The prosecutor was so frazzled preparing for court and reviewing the video that he missed the story on Officer Green.
Every major news outlet ran the story of Officer Green’s outburst in court. Not only did he commit perjury, but he tried to tackle the criminal defense attorney in the case. The NYPD said that they were investigating both cases involving officer Green. He had been placed on unpaid leave while he sat in the county jail. The NYPD would have no option but to fire him.
