I woke to the best sleep I had in years. It was dreamless but peaceful. I didn’t stir once. I don’t know how long it’s been since I last slept this well. For so many years, I have learned to go without sleep or at most close my eyes for only minutes at a time. It was essential for my survival in the castle to learn to rest with both eyes open. As secure as it looked, it wasn't safe for someone who everyone hated.
