The Shadows

UNKNOWN POV I've been watching and waiting for years for Davina to go somewhere alone. Finally, this is my chance. Since high school, I tried to get her attention, but she was too busy pining after Levi. I became friends with Dane and Levi to get close to her, but anytime I tried, one of them was always there, interfering. When she left for school without so much as a word to anyone, I decided to find her. As soon as I did, I transferred schools, I moved closer to her, I was in some of her classes, and she never even noticed I was there. The only places I didn't follow her were to her dig sites, but that's because I couldn't. I followed her back to town, got an apartment near by, figured out how to tap into her phone. I was at the bar every night, watching her. And then Levi and Dane just had to show up, and they never noticed me either. When they went on their date, I was angry. They were getting along too well, but then at the end, they were fighting, and she was leaving. I followed her to her house and sat outside waiting, listening in through her phone and watching what she was doing on it. I was about to book a plane ticket when I heard her and Hadley talking. After she finished making her hotel reservation, I made mine. This is my chance, time to approach her. I got up early and went to my place, the one my dad had passed down to me, to make sure everything was ready for our arrival later today. Then I headed to the hotel to check in and get ready. I put on my suit and grabbed everything I would need. I then watched her location move as she made her way here. I watched as she checked in and then made my way towards her. I made sure to make this look as coincidental as possible to her and those around us. "Davina?" She spins around to face me, shock written on her face. "I thought that was you. You don't remember me, do you?" "No, sorry." "It's me, Jake. We went to high school together." I could see the recognition as it crossed her face. "Oh hi, it's been a while." She passes me a polite smile. "Would you be willing to get some food with me?" She looks at me, trying to read my facial expression and body language. She sighs and takes a deep breath. "Sure. Give me an hour?" She asks while looking down at her phone to check the time. "I'll be waiting right here." I smile at her and watch as she walks to the elevator to go put her stuff in her room.
