LEVI POV
A few days have gone by since I saw Vi at the park with her son. I don't know what she meant she said that not after what I did would he listen to me. My office phone ringing snaps me back to reality.
"Levi Adams." I say, trying not to sound as awful as I feel.
"I think it's time we talk big brother. Can you meet me for lunch?"
"Of course. The diner down the street from the office? Is it still your favorite?" I could hear the smile in her voice.
"That's perfect, and yes, it is." She hung up without saying anything else.
The rest of the day went by slowly. When lunchtime came, I rushed to where my sister was waiting for me. I see her sitting in a booth as I rush by the windows to the door. I go to her instantly. When she sees me, she smiles and stands to give me a hug. We order our food, and when we get about halfway through our meal, she speaks up.
"Vi told me about the park."
"How has she managed to do all she has with being a single mom?" I ask, my heart aching that she has had to do it alone.
"It hasn't been easy. She hasn't dated anyone. She works nights after he's gone to bed, so she's there to read to him and tuck him in. She was sick for a month before she went to the doctor and found out. The little old woman who lived next door helped a lot. Davina gave up a very successful career for her little boy." I look at her. After a few moments of silence, I speak up.
"At the park, she said I had done something. But I don't remember doing anything after we appetite together. Do you know what she was talking about?" She inhales sharply and nods.
"Levi, she had been in love with you for years. I know you had feelings for her, too. I was do excited, I thought I would get to have her as my actual sister. I know you guys slept together. I had hope that maybe you both would acknowledge what so many other people could see. But, my dear brother, you ignored and avoided her for a week. Before graduation, we were walking around and talking. When we heard what pushed her the edge to accept her offer at Brown." I furrow my eyebrows.
"What did you hear?" I ask, trying to think.
"You and Lillian. We heard what you both said about her." My face pales. "Levi, I know you love her. If you want to be with her, be patient. She's been through a lot."
We finish eating, and she heads to work as I head back to my office. I decided to go to the bar she works at tonight. I go to see Dane in his office, and ask him to have drinks with me, and to be my wingman with his sister. He finally agrees after I offer anything I can, but all he wants is his sister's happiness.
