02~ The Note

1022 Words
12 Years Later Dora walked out from the tall gigantic building, her bag hung on her shoulder, her eyes glared around the street filled with headlamps which illuminated the street as the evening clouds turned dark. She had worked her ass throughout the day, filling unfinished documents with the help of Myra, her best friend. Myra had left a few minutes ago to check on her sick mother who was in the hospital under the doctor's care. Dora walked down the street to the bus stop to wait for a cab or bus heading to her home. She was standing alone, her eyes moving as cars sped through the silent road. Her mind was drifted on how she was going to cope with making dinner tonight with the little strength she's got. She was contemplating whether or not she should go to Myra's house and spend the night, or probably go home and sleep with an empty stomach. The thought was still on when some one touched her, dropping a white folded paper in her hand. She blinked back to reality, moving her gaze to the stranger who had just left a note in her hand. "Hey. Hey!" She screamed for him to stop but he increased his pace. She ignored him, unfolding the paper to read the writings. "He's watching you." Fear gripped her heart as she read the words, she looked towards the direction the stranger had gone, he was out of sight. She glared at the paper again, reading the words over and over again, wondering if she was actually imagining this or if the words were real. But the more she read the note, the more real it sounded. "What the f**k is this?" She questioned no one in particular. "Who's watching me?" She glared around to see if he had only written it because someone was actually at a corner watching her but she saw no one. She was deep in thought that she had forgotten she was going home. She didn't notice the first empty cab drive past her. She tried to shove the thought off her mind but it keeps coming. Another cab stopped at the junction for her to enter. She laid her head on the dashboard of the door, wondering who the "He" is. Why would some one out of nowhere be after her life? Why would some one want her? They finally got to her home, she hopped out and paid the driver. She walked to the door, searching for her key in her bag. She picked it out, fixing it into the keyhole. She unlocked the door, pushing it open. She threw her bag on the couch, the urge to eat was gone. She felt unrest, more like this "he" was still watching her wherever he was. She was thinking over the same thought, that she didn't realize when she dozed off, waking up the next morning with a severe headache. She groaned painfully, she could barely get herself to sit down. She looked at the wall clock, 6:45am. She jerked up, rushing to the bathroom. "What were you thinking, Dora." She blamed herself for not setting the alarm time in her phone. She was the kind who loves sleeping a lot, and without the alarm, she would have gotten sacked a long time ago. She always uses hot water to take her bath, but today she didn't mind how cold the weather was, she used the cold water. She dressed up in her already pressed suit, wearing a slight makeup. She packed her hair in a ponytail, braiding two strands of her front hair. She glared at herself at the mirror before heading back to the sitting room to pick her bag. There was nothing to eat, so she left to work with an empty stomach. She was five minutes late to the working time, and Mr Hyde was the kind who hated his workers showing up late. Mr Hyde is just the PA of Mr Vincenzo, the general CEO of the H&C Emperor Company, he hardly shows up in the company, so he puts every activity in Mr Hyde's care. "Miss West!" He yelled her name as she tried to sneak to her office. She stopped abruptly, faking a smile on her face. "Good morning, Mr Hyde. How was your night?" "My night was good, thanks. You're late." "Yeah, there was heavy traffic on the road. I had to walk my way to the office, I'm so sorry, it will never happen again." She apologized. Dora was Mr Hyde's favorite staff, he loved the way she worked. He always knew her for her punctuality, so he didn't mind if she was lying or telling him the truth, he believed her. "We have more files to fill." He said and Dora groaned. "But they aren't as much as yesterday, so you don't have to worry." "Okay then, let's get it done already." She said, "Follow me." She followed him to his office, where he gave her about ten files to fill. "The boss told me he would be paying the company a visit next Monday. I want these documents in order by the end of the day. You know we don't work on weekends, so I wouldn't want us rushing things up by Monday or he thinks we aren't being serious with our jobs." He explained. "You don't have to worry, Mr Hyde, I can ask Myra to help me out with the sorting." "Exactly. Thank you by the way." "It's nothing." "If this files are too much for you, I can ask Tony to assist you." "I did about twenty yesterday, remember? Ten isn't a thing to me." She winked at him, taking the files out of the office to hers. Since Dora started working in the company, she has never seen the boss. She had heard of him coming but that was on the day she was on break. And when she returned back to work, it was once announced that he would come, but he never did. Somehow, she was excited to hear he was coming again.
