It all started when she was dressed in male's attire, even if she was the daughter of a noble, she was groomed like a male, and compelled to grow up like them
'Take what you can take, it's an eye for an eye. The darkness lurks, but a hand shall strike.'
The prochecy ran in her head...a prophecy she didn't want to accept. Why had the moon goddess chosen her instead...now she was forced to live like a man, and would seldom get married.
Yesterday she was sitted in the confines of her serene chamber, but today, she was here, as one of the warriors of the Lycan king.
The clang of steel echoed through the training grounds as Alia parried a fierce blow from Kiren, Lukan's beta. Her arms trembled with the effort, sweat beading on her brow.
"You're losing your edge, Alec," Kiren taunted, using the name she had adopted to conceal her true identity.
Alia gritted her teeth. "I'm just getting started."
She feinted left, then spun right, her blade a blur as she aimed for Kiren's exposed flank. He barely managed to deflect the strike, his eyes widening in surprise.
"Nicely done," he conceded, albeit grudgingly.
A commotion at the edge of the training grounds drew their attention.
A figure swathed in dark robes strode into the camp, his presence sending a chill down Alia's spine.
"Ezra," she breathed, recognizing the sinister sorcerer who had been relentlessly pursuing her.
Kiren tensed, his grip tightening on his sword. "What does he want?"
Ezra's gaze swept over the gathered Lycans, his lips curling into a cruel smile.
"Where is the child?" he demanded, his voice slithering like a serpent.
Alia's heart hammered in her chest.
She knew Ezra sought to eliminate the prophesied child, the one destined to unite or destroy the werewolves and humans.
Her mother had sacrificed everything to conceal her identity, but now, it seemed her secret was on the verge of being exposed.
Lukan, the Alpha, stepped forward, his powerful frame radiating authority.
"There is no child here, sorcerer. Leave now, or face the wrath of the Lycans."
Ezra's smile widened, his eyes glinting with malice. "I can sense the child's presence. You cannot hide her from me forever."
With a flick of his wrist, a burst of dark energy erupted from his fingertips, slamming into Alia's chest and sending her crashing to the ground.
Her disguise shattered, her blonde hair spilling free from the confines of her tunic.
Gasps of shock rippled through the gathered Lycans as Alia's true identity was revealed.
Lukan's eyes widened, his nostrils flaring as he caught the scent of her femininity.
“You…” He snarled, baring his canines, the anger painted on his face, with a mixture of disbelief and something else that Alia couldn’t quite identify had filled his voice.
Ezra laughed, a dark look in his eyes as he stared at Alia.
“Finally, the prophesised child is before me. Now, it is your turn to meet your end at my hand. ”
Alia rose to her feet hastily and clutched her sword tightly in her hand, still trembling.
“I will not give up that easily. ”
As soon as Ezra sent another bolt of energy flying, Lukan moved with swiftness to shield Alia from Ezra.
Then there was a loud growl that signified his transformation into a Lycan, his menacing claws cutting the air and parrying the attack.
He yelled with a voice that was altered by the transformation. ”Run Alia." His eyes met hers and she felt a bolt of incomprehensible energy within her, something she had never felt before.
Kiren pulled Alia by her arm and forced her to go towards the periphery of the camp.
“You need to leave, we need to get you out of here. ”
Alia braced her feet, watching the intense fight between the two parties that was in front of her.
”I can’t just abandon him!”
“You have to,” Kiren said. ’The Alpha’s orders. Your life is too valuable. ’
Alia stopped for a while and stared at the two as they engaged each other with sharp fangs, sharp claws, and shadowy spells.
Still, she couldn’t help but feel that her life had changed and that the only prophecy she had a chance to avoid was now a part of her destiny.
”Alia, we have to go. Now!” Kiren is shaken her back to reality, and with reluctance, she followed him away from the fighting.
When they ran into the woods near the camp, Alia allowed herself one last look behind her.
Lukan’s huge figure was in the middle of a life and death struggle with Ezra and their clash was causing the ground to tremble.
”What happens now?” she asked, her voice shaking.
Kiren's expression was grim. “We just need to keep on walking and look for a better place to hide because the Alpha will come for us soon. ”
Alia simply nodded, her thoughts already weaving a web of plans and strategies.
In fact, a lot happened within a short period of time than the normal expected duration.
It was the only secret she had kept while living her life and the only secret she could not escape as the darkness sought to reclaim her.
She felt fear and she felt uncertainty but deep within her, she felt the fire rise.
She will not be a victim.
For she will fight for what she wants and for the people she loves, regardless of the consequences that may arise.
The cacophony of the combat began to recede as they stepped further into the woods, and was replaced by the unsettling stillness of the trees.
They followed Kiren who navigated through a maze of corridors while he and his companions remained on the lookout for any signs of an ambusher.
Just then he raised his hand to stop Alia from proceeding further.
He sniffed and, looking at me, growled softly.
“We’re not alone,” he whispered, looking into the darkness, his hand gripping the gun tightly.
Alia held the sword with a firmer grip as she noticed some men hovering from the other side of the trees, their faces concealed by hoods.
Ezra’s henchmen, who no doubt were dispatched to follow them.
“Surrender the girl, and we may let you live,” one of them whispered, his voice as rough as if he had been using sandpaper on his vocal cords.
Kiren displayed his sharp teeth, as he flexed his muscles while ready for the transformation into his Lycan form. “Over my dead body. ”
The minions moved closer, their weapons glistening as they were choreographed under the faint rays of light that penetrated through the trees.
Alia tensed up and felt a knock in her heart as she prepared for the upcoming war.
As the first of the minions attacked, the ground beneath them began to tremble as a deep, primal roar echoed through the trees.
Lukan charged out of the forest, his large Lycan body shape covered in fur and anger.
He swung his arms and the minions were sent flying, their bodies colliding with trees of centuries old oak.
Alia's breath caught in her throat as Lukan turned his piercing gaze upon her.
His eyes burned with a mixture of fury and something else she couldn't quite place.
"Are you hurt?" He growled, his voice rumbling like distant thunder.
Alia shook her head, too stunned to speak. Lukan stepped closer, his muzzle inches from her face.
She could feel the heat radiating from his powerful body, could see the flecks of gold in his piercing eyes.
"Good," he rumbled. "Because you're not going anywhere until we get some answers."
With that, he turned and loped back the way he came, leaving Alia and Kiren to follow in his wake, their questions and uncertainties swirling like leaves caught in a storm.
