Alia trailed after Lukan, who was already in his Lycan form, a muscular physique that made her quite tense. Kiren walked with her, his face, serious.
She nervously asked, “Where is he taking us?”
Kiren shook his head. "Somewhere safe."
They stepped out into a clearing and the dense forest gave a way to a small cave further in.
Lukan stood by the door of the car staring at the screen, his huge ugly head turn to look at Alia as a dangerous glint shone in his eyes.
" Inside now." His said in a tone that was unbelievable to argue with.
Alia gulped and did as she was told, going into the cave with Kiren following her.
The air was cool, and humid, the small fire gave a dancing light that played on the walls.
Lukan entered last.
Clenching his teeth, he let out a roar and started transforming, twisting his skeletal structure and his size until he was naked and standing before them as a man again.
Alia couldn't take her eyes off him.
Lukan had some masculine aura emitting that wild and undomesticated energy she found herself quivering to.
Dark stubble hugged his sharp jawline and his lips were firmly set as if he was ready to defy whoever dared cross him; his eyes were ablaze with such arrogant determination that she felt intimidated by.
"Explain yourself." He stated, his voice was dangerously low. "Now. "
Alia's eye's widened and found she couldn’t speak. Where could she even start?
Kiren moved forward and the loyalty of his position to be an Alpha was clear from him.
"She is the one prophesized, my Lord. Her mother hid her for her own safety from enemies that sought to end her life. ”
Lukan looked at Kiren and his eyes scanned the man maliciously. "And you knew about this?”
Kiren shook his head. "Not until today. I swear it."
Lukan looked into Alia ‘s eyes again and he clenched his jaw in disproval. "Is this true?"
Alia, at last, found herself able to speak but her voice trembled.
“Yes. My mother… she dressed me as a boy to protect me. She knew the prophecy speaks of a child who can either unite or annihilate the two kindred races. ”
Lukan nodded slowly and raked his hands through his unkempt hair.
“And you accepted to be part of this masquerade after joining my pack?”
Alia set her chin high, determination gleamed in her stare.
“I had to do what was necessary in order to live. You could never possibly know what it is like to have a ‘kill’ order placed upon your head from the moment that you draw your first breath. ”
Lukan’s eyes narrowed, and then he leaned down, placing his large hands on the table and looming over her.
“I comprehend more things than you think. ”
He looked at her fixatedly, and Alia felt something stir inside of her, deep down in her belly.
There was still something beyond simple curiosity or anger in his eyes; it was a raw desire.
“You’re my mate,” He said menacingly and the voice alone sent shivers down her spine.
Alia’s face scrunched up in bewilderment.
Kiren stood up straight and looked seriously at the audience members, before he began to speak.
“There are times among our people when two people are called fated, people who are destined by fate to be together. The Alpha has seen you as his fated mate. ”
Alia’s thoughts raced over this revelation. But… how? I don’t get it.
Lukan stared at her menacingly, running a hand over his stubbled jaw line.
“It is not all that unusual. The moment I first smelled you, I had a feeling that something primal inside me woke up. For some reason, I recognized you as my own. ”
He moved into the light, and she could see how tall he was, how fit he was and how much s****l energy he carried.
“We are one now, Alia. You are to be my companion, my bride, my partner in life. ”
Alia's breath caught in her throat as he spoke her true name, the sound of it on his lips sending a shiver through her.
She had spent her entire life running, hiding, denying her true self.
And now, this powerful, enigmatic Alpha was telling her that she belonged to him, that their souls were intertwined by some cosmic force beyond her comprehension.
"I..." she faltered, her mind racing. "This is all... too much."
Lukan's expression softened, just a fraction. "I know. But you must accept it, Alia. Embrace your fate, your destiny. It's the only way we'll survive what's to come."
His words hung in the air, heavy with implication. Alia knew he was right, deep down.
The events of the day had shattered the fragile illusion she had clung to for so long.
The prophecy, the dark forces that sought to destroy her, the bond with this Alpha she barely knew – it was all real, and there was no running from it any longer.
She took a deep, steadying breath, lifting her chin to meet Lukan's piercing gaze.
"Alright. Tell me what I need to do."
A ghost of a smile tugged at the corner of Lukan's mouth, and he nodded, a spark of approval in his eyes.
"First, you need to rest. We'll discuss our next move in the morning."
With that, he turned and strode deeper into the cave, leaving Alia and Kiren alone by the flickering firelight.
Kiren placed a reassuring hand on Alia's shoulder. "He may seem harsh, but the Alpha only wants what's best for our kind. And for you."
Alia nodded, her mind still reeling from the revelations.
So much had changed in such a short span of time, and she couldn't shake the feeling that her life would never be the same again.
As she settled down on a bed of furs, her thoughts turned to the man – no, the Alpha – who had turned her world upside down.
Lukan was an enigma, a powerful and commanding presence that both intimidated and intrigued her.
And now, he claimed that their souls were bound together by fate, that she was destined to be his mate.
A shiver ran through her at the thought, a strange mixture of fear and something else, something she couldn't quite put her finger on.
Whatever lay ahead, one thing was certain: her life was about to change in ways she never could have imagined.
With a sigh, she closed her eyes, allowing the rhythmic crackle of the fire to lull her into an uneasy slumber.
Tomorrow would bring new challenges, new revelations, and perhaps even a glimpse into the destiny that awaited her at the side of the Alpha who claimed her as his own.
