Chapter Eighteen: Aries' Battle Set

882 Words
A sweat fell down from Silver Cassano's forehead. His breath were again, hard and deep. He had just recovered from the pain and exhaustion he felt as he fought the Harpies, yet, another action was trying to challenge him, trying to kill him. He jumped high as he saw a tiny needle burned in golden light coming towards him. As it hit the ground, it exploded. Thankfully, he has been wearing the scaly shoes with a spring jump he found in his inventory before the needle bomb could attack them. While the clown was laughing from the said ‘rules’ he explained—the just survive rule—the needle bomb started to launch from an unknown position. The clown then, disintegrated into a holographic image, making the needles pass through him, and attack them ruthlessly. Everything seems not in coordination. The title of the special game, ‘Hide and Seek' does not fit the rule of ‘just survive.’ The needle that attacked them seems to be out of the periphery of the concept of hide and seek too. Yet, what matters the most, is the thought of Alina being stolen by a maniac guy who just decided to switch their partners without warning him. He gripped his whip hard with the thought that is filling him. Alina is not a thing that should be stolen just because she is precious. He shouted in frustration as he whipped the needle bomb which attacked him from beside. The needles exploded, making him flew backwards because of the pressure of explosion. Another set of needle bomb came towards him. He was about to s***h it with his vines, when a cluster of pink, fluffy cloud suddenly popped in his front. “What?” he asked in shock. He heard a muffled sound of explosion, yet, he felt no wind or pressure that will make him throw backwards. It was a complete defense for the needle bomb that is attacking them, he thought. “A-Are you okay?” from his back, a woman asked. As he looked towards her, he saw Yohanna. Her face is filled with a lot of emotions mixed in the crumple of her face, in the meeting of her eyebrows, and in the biting of her lips. Silver saw Yohanna holding a golden staff. At the end of it, is a pink-colored orb glowing in neon light, still in pink as well. She was not wearing her torn and half-burnt dress anymore. She was wearing a new cloth—or a single piece swimwear peculiarly designed with a clean, white wool from sheep's fur, looking as if a condensed fluff of a cloud. Her headdress, a ram's horn, is bright in gold, and her shoes looked as if an elven’s creation. She was indeed, beautiful. The white complexion of her skin suits her wardrobe. The gold and pink staff she’s holding gave an additional ornament towards her already beautiful appearance. Silver's eyes then widened in horror. “Get out!” he said. He wielded his whip, then slashed it towards her, and commanded it to move. Before the whip could hit Yohanna, it moved according to Silver's will, avoiding her body, and slashing the upcoming needle bomb that tried to attack her back. Because of the explosion, Yohanna kissed and hugged the ground filled with dirt and black ashes. Silver saw then another cluster of needle bomb that was about to attack them. He then muttered curses. “One after another! This place is killing us!” he said. Yet, what he said was actually true, even before they happen to stumble this special game. This whole Lockeroom island, this whole pandemonium . . . it was designed to kill them. Another fluff of cloud, still pink in color, popped at Silver's front. The muffled sound soon then came. Silver felt a bright light burning on his side. As he look, he saw Yohanna’s staff glowing in light, pointed towards the place where the pink fluff of clouds had appeared. Yohanna then, slowly rose from her lying on the ground posture. Her face is filled with anxiety and worry, afraid that another needle bomb would assault them. “I'm glad you're alright,” Yohanna said. Silver, however, fixed his stare towards her body. Yohanna got a wrong idea about his stares, making her cover her legs, and be awkward with the dress she has been wearing. When Silver realized what Yohanna’s impression was, he immediately shook his head and waved his hand to clarify himself. “N-No! I'm not thinking what you're thinking right now!” he blurted. Yohanna blushed and avoided his gaze. “I—I'm not thinking anything.” “I'm sorry,” Silver scratched his head. “I was just amazed with your items. It seems that all of those items are perfectly created for each other,” he explained. “Ah, this is The Aries’ battle set. It's a celestial set of items and weapon,” said Yohanna. Sooner, the glow of light from the staff that Yohanna is holding has cooled off, revealing a dark mark, a symbol that symbolizes the one of the twelve main celestial constellations of the sky—Aries.
