“Shadow!?” Samantha brought her hands to her mouth to amplify her voice. “Shadoooooow!?”
Around her, the wind carried the voices of Lilith and Rex as they shouted with her in an attempt to locate the hellhound. Any thought of treasure banished from her head, Samantha just wanted to find her puppy again.
She ran past the hole they dug, scanning the beach for any movement. “Shaaaaaadow?”
With every heartbeat, worry pumped through her body. As best as she could, Sam repressed the growing panic so she wouldn’t freak out and completely lose it. That never helped anybody.
