ANNOYANCE PART 2

1857 Words
AMAYA’s POV: “Amelia!” I heard my mother’s warning voice, which was enough for me. Suddenly, my sister stopped and turned back to me, murmuring to herself. My mom waves goodnight to me as she gets ready to sleep. There are three bedrooms in our house. My six-brothers built a cabin where they sleep. My mom and dad’s rooms were located on the ground floor. The second floor of the house has two rooms. The first room was for Amelia. The next room was mine. I finished my evening routine and lay down on my bed. It is hard to take my eyes off the ceiling as they are fixed on it. I saw Kalex’s face smiling. Argh! I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, shook my head, and took a deep breath again. The next morning, I woke up early to prepare for the day. As soon as the alarm went off, I got up. The last thing I want is for my mother to call me out. It is time for me to get ready for my work. After showering and putting on my Chinese uniform, I was ready to go. I took my extra school uniform and put it in my backpack. As I walked downstairs, I saw my mom preparing my packed lunch. Throughout my childhood, my mother made every effort to ensure I had everything I needed, and as a daughter, I was grateful for her efforts. I can’t imagine what I would do without her. “Good morning, Mommy!” I hugged her from behind and kissed her cheek. She giggled and smiled from ear to ear. “Good morning, baby!” she said with a smile on her face. I make a face. There is nothing I hate more than being called a baby. ‘Mom, come on!’ I am a woman now!” I replied with a sullen tone. After turning around and pecking my cheek, she turned around and kissed me on the cheek. “You’re so cute, aren’t you?” No matter what age you are or whether you are married or have children, you are still my baby.” With a sweet smile, I hugged my mom once again. “That’s why Mayah grew up being a brat because of your treatment, Mom! “You spoiled her so much!” There was jealousy in Amelia’s voice as she said those words. It is obvious that you are jealous of me. Is there a reason for this?” There was a defiant tone to my question. “Oh, come on, Mayah! In your dreams! Me? I mean, really. I wonder where you got that silly idea, dear sister?” When I looked at her face, I saw horns and a demonic smile. “You two, that’s enough!” My mom reprimanded us and told us we had to stop. I took my packed lunch and kissed my mom goodbye. I heard my mom’s deep breath. Because of the constant balderdash that my sister and I were having, I felt sad. I know we’re supposed to be best friends, and we should be very close, but the reality is very different from that. I saw my brother again outside the house, smiling while playing on his phone. “I don’t need to be taken to work, brother; I can manage myself.” He smirked as he turned on his motorcycle and quietly put on my helmet. There was no choice but to sit behind him, so I did so. When Amelia and I get into a senseless argument, it gives me the worst feeling. It was about a ten-minute drive from the house to the hotel where I work. My brother took my helmet, and I went down. Our hotel was one of the most luxurious in the city. To begin my time-in routine, I went to the Bundy clock and proceeded to the comfort room to put on some light makeup. Upon the beginning of my shift, I began my work by cleaning the countertops and arranging the utensils, plates, and goblets in an orderly fashion. I saw our waiter wiping the table, and my other colleague made iced tea juice. Our dispatcher arranged the food from Filipino to American breakfast. Then, one by one, our guests entered the restaurant for their breakfast. There was a person I was looking for, and I was squinting my eyes around in search of him. I saw Kalex’s friend, but he was not there to have breakfast. When I wasn’t able to see him around, I was filled with sadness. To keep myself busy, I assisted our guests wherever possible. The purpose of this is to remove him from my mind. I gave our guests the menu so they could choose their breakfast. The last order was successfully served to the guest. I turned around, and I crashed on the hard chest. I was outbalanced and almost fell to the floor. I shut my eyes and waited for my face to hit the floor. But someone grabbed my waist and caught me. I stopped breathing, and my world ceased to exist. We stayed in the position for some time, then our eyes locked, and no one dared to talk or move. Not until someone whistled. I immediately let go of Kalex’s hand. I apologized to him for my actions. He nodded and walked to the next vacant table. The expression on his face was emotionless. It seems that he is stiff. No more playing jokes, like yesterday. It was as if he had become a completely different person. I took my order pad, and I stood in front of him. “Sir, good morning. Could I take your order?” I questioned him politely. As he looked away, he averted his gaze. His attention was then drawn to the menu on the table. “Can I have beef, fried rice, a scrambled egg, and a banana for my fruits? My throat felt dry as he spoke. I quickly gulped. What would you like to drink, sir? Would you like coffee, hot chocolate, or juice?” I nervously asked him. On the table, his fingers are tapping rhythmically. “Uhmm, I was wondering if you could make my hot chocolate for me?” I am not sure if Kalex was pleading that I should be the one making his hot chocolate or a request I am unable to decline. I nodded and took the menu from his hands. Then out of the blue, the old Kalex from yesterday shows up again. “Great! I missed it already.” I didn’t say anything. I excused myself and prepared his hot chocolate after finishing preparing his hot chocolate. I called our waiter to have it delivered to sir Kalex’s table. I glanced at him. As soon as he saw me, he gave me a deadly glance. I suddenly look away. I haven’t noticed the time. It was lunch already. Our guests kept coming in. We had a reserved birthday party in the function room. Then our hotel guests are fully loaded. Then, the phone rang, and I answered it calmly. “Hello, my name is Mayah. How may I help you today?” No one is talking on the other end of the line. This is the same situation as yesterday. I have a hint about who, but I remained calm. “I like hearing your voice, Mayah!” then he put down the receiver, and the line was cut. Left me dumbfounded. *** I found myself replaying Kalex’s last statement on the phone over and over again in my mind. It was still puzzling to me what he said. As sweet as it sounded, I did not know how to react to it. I was left hanging. Just a few minutes before my shift ends. The phone rang, and I answered it. “Hello, this is Mayah. Is there anything I can do to help you?” I wanted to put the phone down, but I patiently waited for the other line to speak. “Hello?” I repeat. To get the other line’s attention. “Yeah, can I order room service?” he asked me. “Sir, we do not have a delivery boy available at this time. Would it be okay if we waited for another shift before we took your order?” I politely asked him. He responded to my question in a way that surprised me. “Would it be possible for you to bring it to my room?” There was a persistent tone in his voice. But I felt like I had lost consciousness. “Let me see what I can do, sir. May I take your order?” I ready my pen and order pad. After he told me his order. I went to our manager’s office. I need to ask for his permission on what I should do. I knocked on the door. Then I slightly opened the door when I heard come in. “Sir, I would like to ask you what I should do regarding our room service. We have no one around to bring the guest orders.” We lack workforce because we have a birthday party in the function hall. “Do you mind bringing the order to the guest? I will take care of the counter if that is okay with you. Just lock the cashiering machine.” I nodded, and our manager followed me. When Kalex’s food is ready. Then I brought the order to him. I knocked. “Room service.!” My voice echoed as the door opened. “Come on in!” Kalex said with a smile. I went inside. As I placed his orders on the table, I took the receipt from my pocket and handed it to him so he could sign it. “Here you go; please sign here, sir.” He looks at the receipt and looks at my face with a smile. “I will sign that as soon as you give me your phone number!” he said firmly. He was so serious. We only have a limited time frame for food delivery to our guests. I will be liable for a backlash if I go ahead without the guest’s signature. “Fine!” I hissed at him. He handed me a pen as well as a notepad. It seems that he has always had this plan in mind. “Make sure you will give me your correct number, or you will regret it!” The threat in his voice made me shiver with fear. I didn’t answer. Then, after I had written down my number, I handed him the order slip for him to sign. I turned around and reached for the knob. However, he quickly pinned me there and whispered in my ear. “I will make you mine, Mayah!” His voice was full of menace. I was frightened, but I kept it to myself. He slowly opens the door for me. I breathed a sigh of relief when I came out of his room.
