Pancakes?

Osiris POV- Let’s GO! My brothers left my room a few hours ago. Now, I’m just sitting here at my desk in my room with my mind going a mile a minute. After the way Beta Jacob reacted to our news of wanting Alsie to be our Luna, I had more questions than answers. Then there was that weird conversation between Jacob and our parents. I looked over at the clock on my nightstand, and it read 8:04pm. Where did the day go? I guess I’ve been sitting here pondering the day’s events longer than I realized. I mind-linked my brothers: Get dressed, we're going for pancakes and I know just the spot. It’s going to be a drive. I got up from my desk chair, took my sweatpants off, pulled on some jeans and threw on a white t-shirt. I put on my white Gucci sneakers, and a zip-up hoodie. I opened my bedroom door and once again my brothers were just standing there outside my door. “How many times do I have to tell you guys to knock? You two got ready to go fast.” “Where are we going?” asked Andrew eagerly. “I think I already know, and I’m 100 percent OK with it. It might backfire though. Seriously, this could backfire in an epic way.” “I know Evander, I feel like we must try something. It might work out, maybe not right when we show up, but at least we will have planted the seed. Also, I think it’s the only way to get some answers.” “OK, I’m with you, Osiris. How about you, Andrew?” “I don’t know. I’m clueless as to what you two are talking about. I’m here for the ride, especially since it has the word epic in it. Wait, we’re still getting pancakes, right?” I shake my head and say “Yes, Andrew. We’re still getting pancakes.” “OK, then let’s get this show on the road.” My brothers and I head downstairs and out of the packhouse to my Range Rover. I made sure Alsie and I got matching SUVs. I want her to be safe and, with the OnStar system, I know someone is always around in case of a crash or other car emergency. As we were walking to my car, I heard Andrew yell “Shotgun” and the two of them took off running. I don’t know why he even bothered to call shotgun; Evander is going to sit in the front seat no matter what. I get into the driver’s seat, as my brothers figure out the other seating arrangements. We pull off and head towards i-5 north. It takes us a little less than 4 hours to get from the packlands to the human city Alsie works in. Once in the city, I call Alsie’s work. “Station 14, how may I direct your call?” “Detective Alsie, please.” “I’m sorry sir, she’s out on a call. Is there anyone else who I can transfer you to?” “This is a bit of a personal emergency, and she’s not answering her cell, do you know when she’ll be back in?” I asked the desk Sergeant. “Bro, what are you doing?” asked Evander with a hint of panic in his voice. I muted the phone: “Shut up, let me find out where she is.” “Sir, I don’t have an ETA on her arrival back here. I’m not supposed to do this, but she’s in the club district. She and her partner just request their meal break.” “Ok, thank you, you’ve been very helpful,” I said into the phone as a smile spread across my face. “To the club district boys,” I say to my brothers. “I thought we were getting pancakes,” said Andrew as his stomach growled loudly. I drove to the club district and found a cute little coffee shop with big bay windows and a neon sign that was flashing “pancakes” in the front window by the glass front door. Right next to that sign was a sign that read “coffee”. I parked in one of the parking spaces on the street in front of the coffee shop. My brothers and I all got out of the car and proceeded to go into the coffee shop. I had a gut feeling Alsie would be showing up here soon. “I’m starving.” My stomach started rumbling as soon as we walked through the door. “You’re always hungry. It’s not normal,” said Andrew. “Me!? Andrew, are you serious? You’re the one that’s been going on and on about pancakes, since before we left the packhouse.” “Hey, you both know I am never turning down a plate of pancakes. Plus, we left like 5 hours ago, and you didn’t stop at all on the way here,” complained Andrew. “I think you and I can finally agree on something, Andrew. Osiris is always hungry.” “Dude, is that your stomach?” asked Andrew, as he looked at my midsection. “Yea, I told you I was hungry.” Then just as I finished my sentence, I heard Andrew’s stomach growl again. “That’s not normal.” laughed Evander. We were sitting in a big corner booth, away from the front door. The booth was spacious, with plenty of legroom. The place was decorated in pink and yellow with cute pink curtains that had coffee cups on them framing the windows. There was a sign above the metal pass bar that read: Breakfast Served All-Day the Whole Menu-The Whole Day “Please can we just order something already. I haven’t eaten anything since dinner, and that was almost 14 hours ago. I’m hungry.” “Sure. Excuse me, can we get some menus?” Andrew raised his hand and asked the lady behind the breakfast counter. “Oh, hey! Yea, sure coming right up.” She responded. She walked over to our table and handed us three menus. She had on a pair of black Capri pants, a black short sleeve, cotton shirt, and a black bib apron with a picture of a waffle and a cup of coffee on it. Her name tag was pinned to the top right corner of the apron. It read Bre. “Can I start you off with some coffee?” Bre asked cheerfully. “Three coffees, two pieces of that apple pie, one cinnamon roll, and one large cup of milk.” “Brother, I don’t want pie, milk, or a cinnamon roll,” chuckled Andrew. “The only thing I ordered for either of you was a cup of coffee. The rest is for me. Now, let me see what the menu has on it. I told you I was hungry.” “Osiris, you can’t come into the human world and eat like a werewolf.” Whispered Evander, they’ll start looking at us. “Ev, we are 6’9” tall, and muscle-y, we look the same. We look like we should eat a truckload of food. If you’re going to order a salad, that would look suspicious. Now, let me read my menu, so I’m prepared when Bre returns.” Bre returned with a tray filled with the sweets and three large coffees that we had ordered. “I went ahead and made your coffees large-sized. I hope you don’t mind. I didn’t think to ask, but I brought you some creamer. Are you ready to order?” Bre asked after she unloaded her tray. “Yes, I’m ready to order. I’ll have two of the strawberry-chocolate chip waffles, three sides of bacon, two sides of hashbrowns, extra crispy please, six over medium eggs, and a bowl of your chicken noodle soup, that I smelled when I walked in with extra crackers, please.” As soon as I was done ordering, I started stuffing my face with apple pie. I was really, really, hungry. Evander ordered biscuits and gravy with eggs and hashbrowns, Andrew asked for two large stacks of pancakes, biscuits and gravy, some sausage, and a bowl of soup. At least baby brother wasn’t going to let me look like a glutton. Bre came back to our table a few times to fill up our coffee. After about the third time, she asked if she could start bringing out the food, instead of waiting for it to be brought to our table when the order was complete. I told her that it would be more than OK and to bring it as it came to the pass bar. I was hungry. Those couple of little snacks just stopped my stomach from rumbling, they didn’t do much to curb my appetite. The food finally started arriving at our table. It smelled so good. I didn’t wait to see if my brothers got any of their food, I just dove straight for mine and started digging in. It tasted as good as it smelled. This made me happy. I hate it when I go get food, and it isn’t good. This was good. We were about halfway through our small feast. Well, not Evander, because he only wanted biscuits and gravy. I heard the bell ring and felt the temperature change on my back when the door opened. Just as I was getting ready to take another bite of my wonderful waffle, I picked up a scent. Her scent. The unmistakable scent of vanilla and cinnamon. I picked my head up to look at my brothers and Andrew’s face went pale; he dropped his fork on the floor. I knew by their reaction that our Alsie had just entered the coffee shop. “s**t” muttered Evander. “Busted” whispered Andrew, as he closed his eyes.
